4Player-"There is absolutely no other way to put it other than to say that it was all a lie. The game we saw in the demos and in ads is nowhere to be found on the final disk. There is no 'next generation lighting', the canon has been trashed, and Pavarotti hasn't sung in years. Aliens: Colonial Marines is a sham. It is Snake Oil that might as well be sold from the back of a wagon by a silver tongued swindler with a bad suit and a handlebar mustache."
Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.
The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.
The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Player 2 takes some quiet time to look back at some of the most hyped failures of the past 10 years.
Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.
Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.
Thanks to a bustling mod community on Steam, Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines actually has a stellar multiplayer experience to offer these days.
So, it's good?!
Lots of people apparently looked at that "demo" from about 9 months ago, and made their purchase decision at that moment. Seems silly to me, but maybe they'll learn a lesson from this. Expectations kill fun. I had low expectations for A:CM and I find it fun. Definitely the lowest rated game I've ever really enjoyed.
The game is by know means a 20 out of 100 game. I mean, 50 is a bit low, so 20 is just being ridonkulous. I would say 65/100 is fair.
Comon you clowns, stop scoring games waaaaay too low, just for the attention it brings, & give honest reviews......otherwise you just look like an ass.
