The 3DS seems to be picking up steam again..

mt4326d ago

the opposite is happening for VITA. I'll buy it soon when I see enough games that go with the flow of my taste.

SpinalRemains4326d ago

yeah it has a lot of games that just came out, but most of them are not my taste at all. Way too Japanese and weird.

Golden Abyss and playing through NG Sigma super + are really awesome though.

Denethor_II4326d ago

Lol.

morkendo234326d ago

must be some kind of conspiricy going on with MS.
how is it possible with gaming system only have GEARS an HALO, FORZA plus KIDDY KINECT continue out beating PS3 with loads of games.
360 45,292
ps3 34,740
something seriously wrong with that picture.

KingOptimusOrigin1114326d ago

The reason is because of casual gamers mostly like 360 and will pick it over PS3 because of Microsoft advertisement tricks.

lastofgen4326d ago (Edited 4326d ago )

Many people do not really care for exclusives. The way ms markets their console and the multiplats also have an impact. And america is trending towards xbox 360. Among young kids, especially, xbox is seen as the go-to system for their games, namely call of duty.
But you go ahead an call it a conspiracy if you want to.

@KingOptimusOrigin111 What's your definition of "casual gamers?" I'm just curious.

wnek94326d ago

its because microsoft are better at marketing their shit.

in the past week i have seen over 30 360/kinect ads on tv and that also applies for third party games most trailers end with a 360 logo pretending like they are exclusive. while only seeing about 10 ps3/vita ads mainly vita ads too.

of course this is only in america I know in europe with all the soccer that is going on ps3 is advertised more there.

when i walk into a gamestop out here 360 alone takes up 2/3rds of the store shelf inventory.

shoddy4326d ago

In US people only buy what the media tell them to.

Qrphe4326d ago

Most consumers aren't knowledgable consumers. It works like that in every market.

ShaunCameron4326d ago (Edited 4326d ago )

@ morkendo23

The PS3 might have loads of games, but how many of those games are impressive enough to sell the console? It only does everything, but doesn't do ANYTHING particularly better for the potential buyer to favor it over the competition. And even Blu-ray playback isn't cutting it.

@ KingOptimusOrigin111

Not really. Maybe they're choosing the XBox 360 over the PS3 because they deem social gaming and being able to play without a controller a greater value than sheer hardware power and bleeding-edge graphics.

@ lastofgen

Indeed. It's just that Sony's exclusives are less cared about than Microsoft's and Nintendo's.

@ Shoddy

Isn't that the whole point of advertising? Sony this generation has found out the hard way that brand-loyalty alone is not gonna win a console war. It didn't work for Microsoft last generation nor did it work for Nintendo the generation before that. You're only as good as your last console.

GribbleGrunger4326d ago (Edited 4326d ago )

all this logic to suggest why the 360 sells better than the PS3 in America. I wonder why Sony sells more consoles in Europe? I guess Sony must advertise the PS3 better there, sell more casual games there, and have more exclusives there. Yep that's the only reason I can see that the PS3 outsells the 360 in Europe...

I've got to admit though, it is astonishing that an American console sells better in America.

http://www.vgchartz.com/

I wonder how busy the European and WW sales threads will be?

Dante1124326d ago

@ Shaun

The Ps3 had no system sellers? The first Resistance pushed alot of consoles, MGS4, God of War 3, and I know Gran Turismo 5 sure did (I remember when it's first week sales as well as the US PS3 numbers were released. Oh the spinning that went on then lol). Please stop with that bs that PS exclusives don't sell cause they do.

muahahahahaha!

Good work Microsoft

Tewi-Inaba4326d ago

How is the DS still even selling that much

cstyle4326d ago

Xbox still ruling the home turf.

Zefros4326d ago

even if xobx is selling better than the rest, 45 000 is not great, ps3 not doing great either.

lastofgen4326d ago

Many people who want current gen consoles have them by now. These consoles are ending their cycle and I guess that's what is so flawed with the idea of a 10 year console cycle: the declining sales overall.

ShaunCameron4326d ago

HD gaming is getting redundant. The next Microsoft and Sony consoles are not ready yet because the technology to facilitate them doesn't exist. And it's only recently that the mass market adopted HDTV's.

PlayStation Nixxes PSN Account Linking Requirement for Helldivers 2

PlayStation tweets: "Helldivers fans -- we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.

We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans."

Christopher5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

Now, will gamers take all this fervor and aim it at the likes of EA, Ubisoft, Take2, and others who have way more invasive and problem-causing apps for Steam games?

Eonjay2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Sony is like a whipping boy for the industry and it's just lame at this point. This is like my Activision account I use for Call of Duty. I'm not a 'fan'' of Activision but it's free and it comes in handy. The PSN account would come handy if they decide to do cross saves and I'm sure some other stuff too. I have an account for practically everything, including this site. I need a Microsoft account to play some PS5 games. No one has been able to explain what the big problem with a PSN account was.

H92h ago

Christopher with all I do respect, your bias is showing heavily, be positive, congratulate people and ask for them to do more, no need for this passive aggressive bitterness

jambola1h ago

if they do he'll probably make the same comment but put world hunger in there

notachance2h ago

I’d argue there’s a better softer approach they could do, just make it optional with bonus for people who did it like some free cosmetics and make it required only for cross-play and cross-save purposes. That way the people who can do it have bonus incentives and people in countries without psn can still play without problems.

just_looken2h ago

Sony is also extremely bad i think alot i mean alot of people are in the clouds thinking its 2010's.

I agree with the whole other publishers should also remove there link unless for crossplay of course but sony its the worse right now.

As of 2023 sony requires your real information dob/address/phone number even phone text's for login but the way worse part is the need for personal government id.

The way sony account creation is no one can make a account until they are a legal adult in there country then you got all that data on a server with the same security as donal trump's bathroom file cabinet.

Oh also sony's terms of service says if you use a vpn its a auto ban remember sony uses bots to monitor everyone.

With Microsoft every person that has windows 11 installed there is a very high chance you already have a account microsft account is xbox account there creation page is still basic but no doubt will get just as bad a sony soon.

https://youtu.be/h4TqFYyQ_U...

Thank goodness they went back on this decision because if it stayed then even users that could make a account might not have been able do too the lack of a govt id.

just_looken1h ago(Edited 59m ago)

Here come the disagrees even though i left proof.

But this is n4g alot of you would give sony anything they want your fortune first born child anything so your sin/govt card is nothing for those kind.

Extermin8or3_56m ago

The government id is only in certain countries and it's not Sony's decision. It's laws your governmwnt like mine here in UK made that means they require that.

P_Bomb45m ago

“…alot of you would give sony anything they want your fortune first born child anything so your sin/govt card is nothing for those kind.”

It’ll be alright. Just breathe…

MrDead22m ago

You have disagrees because everything you said was ill informed. It's like this is your first insight into regional requirements.

I would save your anger for the companies that don't listen to it's player base.

Angyobangyo1h ago

The difference is EA, Ubisoft, Take2, etc didn't release their games and then down the line implement forced account linkage under the guise of "security". Gamers know from when they buy EA and Ubisoft games that you'll need an account with those companies. Also when was the last time a company delisted an extremely popular game from over 100 countries?

Extermin8or3_54m ago

It was listed on the game as a requirement and it was a decision by arrowhead so that people could get into the game. In future companies won't be able to make such decisions and you will simply be left unable to play the game.

Thank you! I have a PS account, but bought this on PC. I just hate having to do stupid stuff like this just to get into the game I bought.

just_looken2h ago

You should try getting a resident evil MP working not as bad as making a sony account but its right up there i tried with a fake dump email holy spam batman. I never finished the account creation

XiNatsuDragnel5h ago

Good stuff this is what the power of gamers can do.

buffig2h ago

I wonder if that "power" could do something useful?

Chocoburger5h ago

Crisis averted, now we can all move on.

No Man's Sky Is Easily One Of Gaming's Greatest Comeback Stories

Despite No Man Sky's rocky launch, Hello Games managed to turn it into one of the best space exploration RPGs out there.

-Foxtrot12h ago

I hate the whole concept of "comeback story" because at the end of the day it doesn't remove the core issue we had in the first place, that we were lied to, it was disappointing and it launched with bare content to what was promised for years.

Any bad game can have a comeback story if it's supported enough after launch but for me if you launch in a terrible state then you had your chance. I can applaud you for what you've done after but at the end of the day there's not much of a choice since most gamers would blank your next product if you ditched your last game so fast, it's not about repairing the game but spending your time repairing gamers trust before you launch your next product otherwise it would be dead on arrival.

With these stories and the games being updated, the only way is up most of the time so of course it's going to improve the game and feel better over all, getting better and better as time passes. No Mans Sky, Sea of Thieves, Fallout 76 etc but then you have games like Anthem, Suicide Squad, Redfall and The Avengers where the devs just clearly moved on, now if they have another product people won't be as exited for it, I mean hell Guardians of the Galaxy was a great game but because of the Avengers it didn't help its sales since people were obviously still sour at that point.

I still think despite the improvements to games like No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk along with being better now overall the games are still not up there to what was promised and hyped as for years.

If we keep celebrating these “comeback stories” then unfortunately it only strongly supports the concept that these studios / publishers can continue to push half arsed broken products out for the sake of quick sales instead of waiting until they are fully finished. We need to condemn this awful behaviour or sadly we lose all voice and power as consumers.

Sonic188111h ago(Edited 11h ago)

I feel the same way about Cyberpunk 2077. I'm glad you mentioned that. I'm not a fan of comeback stories as well. But No man sky developer was a small indie team compared to CDPR. It's worse when it's coming from a AAA developer

Nacho_Z11h ago

"Any bad game can have a comeback story if it's supported enough after launch"

You make it sound so simple and easy. It's not. After release Hello Games poured countless hours into getting their game closer to what they originally wanted, without charging a penny to anyone. That's not normal.

The reason NMS and HG are held in such high esteem and calling them liars is a weak stance is the amount of work they've put into it, for free. They're not chasing a quick buck, they've dedicated their lives over the last few years to giving their fans the game everyone wanted.

-Foxtrot10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

They are liars though...

We are not revising history here, I'm sorry but we're not

They built this game up for years and they launched it knowing full well it wasn't up to scratch to what they originally showed off or hyped it up to be.

"They're not chasing a quick buck, they've dedicated their lives over the last few years to giving their fans the game everyone wanted"

And like I said above most of that comes from the fact that if they had just moved on straight away nobody would have supported their next game. They've washed most of that sour taste away after supporting No Mans Sky so now they are doing a new game which more people feel like they can support and get excited for.

Anyway how can you say "You make it sound so simple and easy. It's not" and then make the point that "Hello Games poured countless hours into getting their game closer to what they originally wanted, without charging a penny to anyone"

This means that if a small team like this can turn a game around then big AAA games like Suicide Squad, Redfall, Anthem and the like should have been able to do it no problem, oh but that's right they didn't want to put the time or effort into it. They can do it but some people just decide not to.

milohighclub57m ago(Edited 56m ago)

Whatever happened at launch is in the past. By your logic they could have supported it for a year got it to the project they promised then stopped but they didn't. They're still supporting it to this they, they've released more content post than pretty much any game I can think off. More than most MMOs. They didn't have to go this far but they have and don't have any plans of stopping. All for free too.
Yeah they had a shit launch and they've apologised, learned and more than made up for it. I was pissed off at them at launch, but not petty enough to keep slandering them 7 years later.
You have much bigger studios releasing half assed games and fixing it later or even worse not even bothering.

TheCaptainKuchiki23m ago

And it doesn't change the fact that the game is a boring procedurally generated environment in which your repeat the same actions over and over again with no real purpose. I hate when they say that the game became good.

thorstein12h ago

I really enjoyed it at launch and had every trophy by August 2016.

The experience I had is no longer in the game: It was just me and my ship. It was a survival game and the feeling of loneliness in the universe was pervasive. There was no way to ruin too far from your ship and, in an emergency, you grenaded a hole in the ground to survive.

I miss that aspect, but since then, I love what they've done.

Hugodastrevas10h ago

I'd say it's THE definitive comeback story

TheGamingHounds9h ago

Final Fantasy 14 takes that one imho
