All jokes aside, its a tough choice. But in the end, I'd go with COD. COD4's multiplayer was CRACK.

At least 20 million people and several dozen critics disagree with you. If YOU think its overrated, then thats cool. But from my point of view, no other game this generation has better popularized online
multiplayer gaming better than the Modern Warfare franchise.

- An unplayably laggy borderline-broken FPS that gets worse with every patch.

to:

- An also ridiculously laggy (but to a lesser extent that's still mostly playable) game that feels like every map is underwater because you move so slow and jump high.

...Screw this, I'm going back to Counter-Strike. Even if my craptacular PC can only run it on low settings at about 40FPS.

both are good franchises in their own right. But if I had to pick one it would be halo. Not because I'm a Halo fan, but because of the SCI-FI aspect of it. I'm tierd of the G.I. experience . You turn on the t.v. your exposed to terrorism/war/ political shit. Not to say Halo doesn't have those plots in some similarity, but that's for fan's to break down.

I didn't even know CoD fans and Halo fans HAD differences. What is with IGN lately man? They are going straight downhill with their article quality.

I'm a CoD and Halo fan and always just play both. I'll admit I play Halo and care for that series a lot more than CoD but I still love and play CoD like crazy ever since I got introduced to CoD2.

Every friend I know who plays CoD and Halo are just the same. IGN talks as if their is some fanboy war between the two.

@Hidef freak, its true that xbox players play shooters than anyother game.
But the shooters on that list are pretty good (not mw2 since its so broken).
However expand the list, there are other games there, racing, fighting etc..
The PSN should release stats like this I think.
Im pretty much a shooter guy also, I love many shooters. Although the games coming out in the near future (NFS hot pursuit) so...
There are other sports games, 2k9, NBA etc..ALso.
But back to the article, many older players on halo switched to call of duty so that says it.
Im sure its a similar story on the PSN, many many people play MW2 and many other shooters.
I just want to see a list like this from sony to compare the console gamers them selves.

Halo has some story elements unlike Call of duty.

And second Halo Multiplayer is WAY better then call of duty. Yes halo has its kids but Call of duty is Miles worse. Halo trumps Call of duty in every way possible.

Halo3 was my best console-action-fps for a long time. Then came Killzone2 and COD:MW2.
Halo odst was a HUGE disappointment for me, no story, engine outdated, animation outdated, impossible to hide in shadows and play stealthy, too few environments... almost no pleasure to play it from the start to the end... no unforgettable scene, no reversal of situation... nothing.. I completed it some weeks ago and i barely remember it...

I hope Reach will be the real sequel to halo3.

Does it even have matchmaking? I got the game late (like a month ago when I got my new PS3), and whichever game I dropped into I get butchered by old timers toting their invisibility and what not. I enjoyed games where most didn't have advanced badges, but it clearly shows its age without matchmaking.

That just made me laugh. MW2 is about as far from being a war simulator as Mario Kart is from being a racing simulator.

KZ2 has the best feeling of war, the environments, effects and sounds are phenomenal, but still it's no war simulator. Operation Flashpoint is the only game I've played that has any right to make such a claim. Though I expect there are other such games out there I'm sure none of them have Call of Duty in the title.
