Usually christmas period is where the 360 pulls ahead of the ps3 but sonys console seems to be holding on "according to VG"

Anyway those are good numbers, for such old machines congrats to Sony and Microsoft.

Even Nintendo wii did well :)

Edit* even though everything is down this is the twilight of this gen remember

Abash4162d ago (Edited 4162d ago )

Yeah, I noticed that too. Usually the 360 gains a very large lead pretty much undoing the sales lead the PS3 gets from all the months prior in the year but this year it's tooth and nail.

Jack Tretton said though that he is more excited for Q1 2013 than he is for the PS3's 2012 holiday with games like God of War: Ascension, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and Ni No Kuni. Then The Last of Us releases on May 7th so it'll be a very strong year for PS3 starting as soon as the new year begins

when the ps3 does surpass the 360 in total sales, what will it be like on this site?

For me it will be another day because i already have both. Im really wondering how many hold-outs there are left in this world? Sales of each are more than likely coming from those who bought one and now see there is nothing wrong with buying the other.

Everybody wins because each has a great library of back catalog titles. This far into the gen it is somewhat pointless to still hold off getting one or the other.

Id imagine there are more previously one sided gamers now comfortably in the middle. There is just too much fun to be stuck on one side.

Nice sales for all consoles. Sony held it down this year, the 360 usually pulls WAY ahead during Dec (Last year, 450k). Only a 19k difference this year. Congrats Sony and MS, this fiscal report coming up is gonna be interesting.

Alderney4162d ago

Should be interesting to see since these sales are for the last week of November...

Ben_Grimm4162d ago

I'm glad to see the WiiU up there but I am shocked to still see the Wii selling. I mean there hasn't been a relevant game for that system in a year (maybe 2).

But all in all good to see consoles still going strong. Now...bring on the next gen please!

Godchild10204162d ago

There was a game that just released in Japan last week. Sold over 100k, so I'm sure there are still some Developers out there supporting it. Just like the DS and PSP.

CaptainN4162d ago

The Last Story and Xenoblade would like to have a word with you about what is relevant !!!

Ben_Grimm4162d ago (Edited 4162d ago )

Ooop, you are absolutly correct sir. I should be hung and beaten for not thinking of those two games for the last couple of years.

Especially Xenoblade which I own and love.

Qrphe4162d ago

Super Robot Taisen OG, a series we'll never ever get here.

That's so freaking true, it hurts ><

Dread4162d ago

the difference bewteen Sony and Ms is much slimmer than last year.... which means sony fans will not scream:

"Its Vcharts"

now it will be "good job sony".

Vcharts is only bad when Ms numbers are good. When Sony is doing well, then Vcharts is the a great source of data.

that said:

if you believe the numbers, it seems that they all did mediocre compared to last year.

darthv724162d ago

could be indicative of a slowdown. Saturation at some point. The upswing in mobile gaming could have something to do with it as well.

in fact, i dont think there is a way to track mobile gaming trends other than sales data from Apple, Google and MS in regards to what is being purchased/downloaded on the tablet/phone market. No doubt it is taking a piece of the console sales pie and its software.

you are right in the part about perception of the numbers. When they are in one sides favor they are praised. When they arent, they are damned. Its just human nature.

From a neutral POV, Sony, Ms and nintendo did really well for themselves in this generation as a whole. Nothing to cry foul about on any side.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7214h ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM10h ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

Super Mario 64 DS: Remakes Done Right

Super Mario 64 DS was offered as a launch title for the Nintendo DS, a remake of the classic platform game with a few original tricks.

Not with those D-pad controls

CDbiggen1d 4h ago

Needs more appreciation. I never had an N64 so this was what I played. Sure the Yoshi hat mechanic at first is a slog but you unlock Mario and the others for real and then it takes off. Personally I never had an issue with the controls. Can't forget the mini games and the 4 player rumble over download play.

kevco331d 3h ago

Indeed, as stated in the article there were tonnes of control options and very much a 'take whatever you like, leave the rest' attitude to most of the game's extras.

They aren't going to give more. We are talking about a company that has rereleased an 13 year old game at least 5 times.
