OnlySP: After a number of leaks, Sony finally revealed what they have in mind for the new God of War at their 2016 E3 press conference. While I like to refer to the press conference as Sony’s “someday” presentation, we actually did get a pretty good look at the upcoming video game.
With God of War: Ragnarok launching on PC later this month, we decided to take its prequel for a spin on the Steam Deck OLED. Fortunately, the game looks and runs admirably with consistent frametimes and sharp textures.
Whatever form the next God of War game takes, it needs to be clear about what role Kratos is playing, lest the franchise lose direction.
I'm pretty sure it'd be a major mistake having Atreus as the main character in the next GoW. Seems to me like at best people tolerate him and his gameplay sections.
Ideally the story for the next game would be that Atreus has gone missing in Egypt, Kratos gets mad about it, picks up Mimir and goes on a god killing rampage.
They need to bring back the "God of War" in God of War. I was expecting to unleash hell and fury in Asgard against Thor that they really talked up in the first game but all we got was brooding middle aged dad drunk in a beer hall. Ragnarok was still "good" but I left that game expecting a lot more.
Tried Rag... just couldn't get into it. Felt like more of the same. I would welcome a Kratos only game again.
Now that Death Stranding has landed on iOS, here are five other PS4-era blockbusters that we'd love to have to play on our iPhones at any time.
well 3 never really gave us a definite conclusion to Kratos himself, just a conclusion to what drove him to become the anti-hero he is and the end of the Greek gods. here we'll see if he really did move on from that...
Glad they're changing it up, need more than a new setting to keep things fresh.
I didn't want him back at first but after seeing that they were really committed to giving him some personality and character growth, I'm pretty glad they are bringing him back. It will be interesting to see what they can do with him and his son.
I'm an older gamer and I'm fine with Kratos being in the game. Like others have posted we don't know what role he will play in it. I know I can't wait to play the new God of War.
Yup. Great way to segway Krato's son and preparing him to be the new GoW. It also redeems Kratos as a father. It will bring things full circle.
