The dev team behind FFXIII already said that FFXIII was planned to be the way it is since day 1. More focus on story, less on exploration.
Did you all not see the leaked videos three months ago? The game looked TERRIBLE! Thankfully they are listening to the complaints and doing something about it.

oh noes! Someone in this world think theres a game out there that looks better than Uncharted?!?!?! Mario Galaxy 2 looks better than Uncharted because of the art direction. Same for Shadow of the Colossus and God of War 3.
