@JBSleek
That doesn't show 20% of sales are coming from next gen. That's their stats from the previous quarter. The article states their latest sales figures are 36% PS4, 17% XBox One (53% total next gen).
I had the money to spare at the time, and PS+ games were already coming in along with F2P titles (making the financial investment much less daunting when there's a consistent flow of free games). I've also been a fan of Sony's first party studio offerings since the original PlayStation, so I know they're not gonna disappoint my tastes in games.
@kivespussi
PS+ isn't mandatory for online with f2p titles, at least, keeping them "free" to play (it's up to the publisher I believe, whether they want to be behind PS+ or not, and so far I don't think a single f2p title has opted to do that).
This is what I got from the article description and update:
Assist with physics and graphics calculations without an internet connection by using an internet connection.
And
Solve latency issues with cloud by using wifi.
Wat.
@drk_omeg
Depends how you present that. If you come in stating a platform has better games and acting like it's fact, people probably aren't going to respond very well to it. Nobody can "prove" your opinion wrong, though, nor do they need to.
Personally, I don't have much interest in Xbox One's exclusive offerings. There's a game here and there, sure, but it's not enough to drop money on a console, especially when I alread...
Does Australia operate off the EU store? (Or maybe Asia?) EU's had Muramasa free for PS+ since the end of April it looks like. The list posted here is for North America, EU is getting the same list except LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes in place of NA's Muramasa.
I think there's some statement somewhere that Activision is investing 500 mil into Destiny, and people somehow got the idea that that was the budget for one game, when it was meant as for Destiny as a franchise, including marketing etc. I mean, really, it would take well over 10 million copies sold to break even if for one game (they don't get the full $60 per copy sold if someone thinks the math is wrong at a glance), nobody's that stupid when coming up with a budget for a new I...
From what I've read, a lot of console games are bottlenecked by the gpu, not the cpu, so while dx12 will provide better performance for cpu tasks, it's still got that same gpu bottleneck. That's not necessarily the case for PC, where it all depends on your hardware setup, and there's more stuff going on in the background/OS where freeing up cpu resources would make more of a noticeable impact.
I only have a 10mb connection, and I've only had a couple problems, which were either when the host's connection went to hell (usually caused input lag), or someone started streaming movies elsewhere in the house (usually only caused visuals to suffer).
That's exactly what I was thinking. Pretty pointless if we don't know how many consoles they had to work with. It's not exactly saying much if they (a single retailer as the source) only had a supply of like 20 consoles available (not that I expect it's that low, but, you know, extreme example).
Yeah, I just went back through my email for the purchase receipt because I couldn't remember if it had ever dropped below 40, it was 29.99 then.
From what I remember, you can only buy xp/in-game currency boosters, cosmetics, and I think extra loadout slots. The boosters I think are only a 2x modifier, so not really outrageously different, and something you can make up by just playing more.
I haven't played in a while, so things may have changed.
@its_JEFF
Take your console to a friend's house, people in the military overseas with unreliable internet, service interruption/move to a new house and not set up internet yet, etc. There's quite a few reasons it might be a slight inconvenience, with some things like the military one (a big argument against the initial online-only plans) being a lot bigger.
And there's no need for further testing with PS+ games really, I've had plenty of inst...
@Jeff257
Yeah, if your sub lapses, all you have to do is renew it and then launch the game, it'll auto-update with the new expiration date. I've never had to do anything fancy with reactivating games in the couple times I've let my sub lapse, you just launch the game with an active sub and it just launches like normal, no message popups or anything, it just updates the expiration date in the background when you do.
Downloading a PS+ free game flags it with your PS+ expiration date (you can check it in the game info by pressing triangle on the game while on the xmb), you can play offline all you want, but you'll need to log in if you add more PS+ sub time to update that expiration date.
But yeah, I don't know how people are getting hung up about what the article is saying either:
PS+ = require a sub to play the games
GWG = require a sub to play the games,...
If its subscription is priced competitively with gamefly, it's definitely something I'll be interested in. Rental service with no supply constraints or waiting for physical mail delivery times? Yes, please.
Sony's said the plan is AAA games on PS4 PS+ before the end of the year, which is just crazy to me. I'm expecting the first one to be Knack. I wonder if they'll bump up the number of games per month once more become available.
I'm honestly shocked that we've been getting so many games for free the day they release so far.
I do think it's unfair to compare anything to PS3's PS+, though, especially in a "new" service'...
Yep, if you've been grabbing PS+ games since the PS4 launch, including F2P games, you have:
Blacklight: Retribution, Contrast, DCUO, Dead Nation, Don't Starve, Mercenary Kings, Outlast, Pinball Arcade, Resogun, Stick it to the Man, Warframe, and Zen Pinball 2. (assuming I didn't miss any) Edit: Oh yeah, War Thunder if you have an EU account.
Can't say I'm all that needing to rush out and buy a bunch of games myself.
I wonder if PS4 PS+ users getting a free game every month has any relation to XBOne consistently leading in software sales.
Still to come this year beyond TLOU - DriveClub and LittleBigPlanet 3 (not sure if there's more, just going off the top of my head). If you don't like indies, that's on you, but there's plenty of those on the way (I don't know which ones are exclusive to list them without possibly being wrong or spending a lot of time researching).
