So you think you should only pay $2.50 for an AAA game every month? Under those circumstances this market would die. What would be the incentive to actually ever buy a game if month in and month out you're given 2 AAA titles for just 5 bucks?
What I see online all the time is that gamers just hate games in general. Seriously, no matter what it is they're always complaining.
And this is why bitching will never get rid of microtransactions. People bitch and then pay up. The paying up part is what companies hear.
Both of these consoles are weaker than they should be imo, especially on the CPU side. But although PS4 is not all it could and should have been X1 is "holy shit, what were you thinking?" kinda weak. MS had a rough launch largely because of the terrible policy decisions they'd made but I believe they could have done a full 180 on the competition if their hardware wasn't crap. But it is crap and they have no chance at all against PS4 because of it.
NA ain't even the story. Europe is where X1 is really getting crushed by PS4 (Japan too, but that was gonna happen no matter what).
What makes someone a "qualified" critic?
Aurghh, I replied to the wrong article, lol.
I was hoping for a X1 bundle (A regular X1) with Halo 5 and Halo:MCC but it didn't happen.
One bit of advice I want to give people considering purchasing a 4K HDTV is to make sure it has HDMI 2.0 that is HDCP 2.2 compliant. Buying one that doesn't have that is something you could later regret.
Sounds to me like your real complaint about the 4K TVs you looked at is a contrast thing. Plasma and especially OLED sets have better blacks than LCD/LED TVs. Deep, inky blacks really make an image pop. LCD/LED sets keep getting better and better at producing realistic blacks but the tech still isn't where plasma was and it especially is not where OLED is at in that category. The other big problem with LCD/LED tech is off-angle viewing, something that isn't an issue with plasma and OL...
Well yeah, OLED is awesome. The reason is the contrast. Seriously, blacks and shading can rival reality on OLED displays. Also, OLED doesn't have the off-axis viewing problems that LCD does. They look fantastic no matter what angle you look at them from. But there's still some problems with OLED. For one thing I've heard that current ones are prone to burn-in. And they're sky-high in price because manufacturing yields are low on them right now. But it'll all likely be iron...
It's better than PS4's but I don't think it's as great as people are making out. Need 2-3 more big titles in there to match the hype.
I think it was a certainty before the PS4 price drop. Now I don't know what will happen.
@Wobblypops:
Lol, Halo 5 has a dynamic resolution and almost never runs at 1080p. More like 900p most of the time with dips below that.
And Battlefront is running at twice the framerate of Destiny so what relevance does that comparison have?
It has nothing to do with the memory. It's the GPU and CPU. Tablet class CPU and the GPU is only 1.8 tflops. Compare that to PC GPUs to get an idea how weak that is. Even worse on X1 where the GPU is a mere 1.3 tflops. These machines should have had 2.5 tflops GPUs.
Umm,cuz it has 500 gflops less GPU power, perhaps? X1 is worse but both suck. Both have terrible tablet class CPUs and the GPU in PS4 is only 75% what it should have been and the one in X1 50% what it should have been.
These consoles were underpowered on day 1. X1, definitely. But so is PS4. 900p on PS4 and 720p on X1 is something I'm expecting to see more often as time goes on.
Microtransactions improving a game? Now I've heard it all.
Blog sucks. How nice looking does this guy believe an open-world game can be for a few million dollars? What Suzuki said sounded perfectly logical to me. There's reports of putting the cart before the horse when it comes to Star Citizen but Yu seems to be avoiding those pitfalls. Good for him.
MS has made a lot of good decisions since the launch of X1 but the very bad decision that continues to haunt them and will throughout the entire generation is X1's hardware. It needed to be more powerful than it is.
