One out of 15 million certainly proves that the service is completely secure and unhackable. Just out of curiosity, are you also a lottery winner?

All joking aside, it's great that you haven't had any problems, but a lot of other people (including myself) have. I can't speak for everyone effected, but I didn't fall for a phishing scam, nor did my PC get compromised by spyware - someone found another way in.

There's no saving IE - they need to light it on fire, roll it down a hill, and start over.

haha, yea, the best part is that MS and EA have both taken a "move along, nothing to see here" stance on the issue.

I had five cards on file w/ Microsoft when the account was hacked - I've been debating whether to cancel all of them or not. I have been monitoring them carefully, and so far all is well, but I am a bit nervous that the cc info and my name / address / phone number may all be out there now.

I'm also concerned about how the companies we all deal with handle our personal information. Extra Creditz actually did a great job of covering the topic....

It's not so much the money (although I DO want my money back)that I'm worried about, it's the personal information the hacker may have had access to while they were in my account - and that's the part MS is unwilling to help with.

Good point - should have been more clear in the article; they said they wouldn't have any information for me until the investigation was complete.

Actually I'm extremely cautious about security. I'm well aware of how to spot a phishing scam, and as such, the hacker obtained my login info through other means.

No, that's not what he said, but making light of a serious issue like this is still inappropriate. He cracked a joke at the expense of all the PSN users who had their personal information stolen and that's not OK.

Look, no one expects him to start playing a violin and weeping openly or anything like that, but Sony made a serious mistake. People's personal information was compromised, and that's not something worth making light of. "haha, we totally lost our customers' personal information - isn't that hilarious?"

A month wouldn't be enough time to fix anything major - this is a marketing move, plane and simple. They want to generate hype for the game, and a beta is a great way to do it.

Just to be clear, a month is definitely enough time for minor tweaks and fixes. Still, the MP will most likely be in a near-final state during the beta.

So the millions of magazine readers and website visitors don't count? Those people are buying games based, in part, on what they read about those games online, and in magazines. Personally, I don't spend $60 w/o knowing what I'm buying.

It's a damn shame more PC games don't support dedicated servers. On the bright side though, Gears 3 will support them, even if it's only going to be servers run by Epic. Still, nice to see dedi servers making their way to consoles.

Don't dismiss it based solely on the title; the article actually makes some good points about the business ramifications of the PSN downtime.

I really want to keep liking final fantasy games, but I just can't. The series is staler than that loaf of bread I found behind the fridge.

I like this trend of 8-bit mega man games - really takes me back to my childhood.

seems like a solid game - I'm a big fan of destructible environments.

It's one thing when something is intended as a pre-orded tie in, such as DLC, beta keys, free T shirt, early demo access, and so on. That' snot what happened here. Capcom intended this demo as a no-strings-attached freebie, and GS decided to turn it into a pre-order bonus. In fact, it seems that not all GS's are doing it, indicating potential wrong doing on the part of the stores that did. If the publisher wants something to be a pre-order bonus, then I have no problem with that. Capcom didn'...

The point here isn't that Gamestop has done this in the past, the point is that Capcom intended the demo to be freely available, meaning, walk in, grab the demo, walk out - no hassle, no pre-order. Monster Hunter doesn't perform well in the west, and Capcom is trying to generate hype over the new game. Gamestop is completely overlooking Capcom's intentions here, and using the demo to leverage sales. In other words, yes, it is news.
