@z2g
This isn't about those updates etc, it's that despite having to fix all that they did they still won't admit to the full extent of just how f*ked up the game really was.
Instead of just putting out content and updates and allowing the brand to mend a la No Man's Sky, they waited until the brand was somewhat seen in a more positive light then started doing statements about how "it was never in that bad of a place in the first plac...
Wasn't this touted as a feature of Stadia previously and never came to fruition? I swear I remember a whole thing about "watching a youtuber play Assassins Creed? Just hit the embedded play button and immediately jump to exactly where they are in the game!"
@gleepot
Are the battle passes that lock the heroes behind them free? Are the skins and emotes I could earn in-game in OW1 now free in the OW2 mtx store?
"F2P" has long been a thinly veiled excuse to fill games to the brim with BS mtx, battle passes and FOMO. Especially when it literally replaced and deleted OW1 which I paid full price for and had none of thar garbage in it (loot boxes aside obviously).
Blizzard wanted all of your £££££ £ in return for literally nothing, that's what's happening.
"What's that, you were willing to let the battle passes and mtx slide on the condition you got a great a great PvE experience from it? Well get f**ked Overwatch community!" - ActiBlizz, 2023
Not just the most promising thing, it was literally the entire purpose of the "sequel".
I called it MONTHS ago when they launched Overwatch "2" without the PvE that it was 100% a cash grab and merely an excuse to re-monitize Overwatch 1 and fill it with BS mtx and FOMO. I wish I wasn't right because I used to love OW back in 2016/17, but here we are. Activision Blizzard are the worst.
Yeah it's pretty obvious tbh, just another classic TheGamer article talking complete sh*t or deliberately misrepresenting something for clicks.
I think the writers over there need a moment like this trailer, touch some grass and come back and write something worthwhile.
How can you possibly say it's better than all those games without having actually played it?
But it SHOULD! You still waited years for this and presumably paid your Gamepass sub the entire time. This "oh well, at least it's on gamepass 🤷♂️" mentality is exactly what's breeding mediocrity at MS and destroying their reputation.
If you deem this as acceptable and let MS off the hook for this trash, you can expect the trend to continue and these big AAA day 1 releases on GP are going to plummet in quality because you didn't demand better....
I think the difference is that Jedi's issues are purely technical, while it shouldn't have launched like that, once it's patched it will be a fantastic game.
Patches will do nothing for Redfall, like Fallout 76, it's problems are too rooted to the core design of the game so even smooth performance can't salvage it fully.
@iamtylerdurden1
Xbox's first next gen only AAA game developed by a deeply respected team that cost them $7bn to acquire was intended as filler? That's by far the most delusional take I've seen yet and is 100% incorrect.
God forbid Starfield releases in a shambles, are we going move the goal posts for that one too and pass the buck to the next long awaited, overhyped dud?
Good to see that old reliable narrative still at work.
If it bombs from an acquired studio: "it wasn't an xbox game, it was made by *insert studio here*! At least it's on gamepass 🤷♂️"
If it's an amazing game from an acquired studio: "Another Xbox W, suck it ponies!".
My main issue isn't even game mechanics tbh but the business model. You don't even need to be in your 50's to feel left out in the age of the live service. Expecting an "old person mode" where everything is ridiculously easy isn't something I or anyone else suggested.
As I said in another comment, I'm only 33, working full time alone can make gaming often feel unfeasible with the amount of time they want from you in their FOMO driven designs. A...
@crimson
That's all well and good til you consider you're going to be there yourself one day. I'm 33, I'm not quite the "old" gamer they refer to here but I also don't see myself quitting gaming anytime soon.
If you push older gamers out and don't design games to respect your time now, it's only going to be alot worse by the time you yourself get there. That's a pretty short sighted take you've got there tbh
This is a factor, but FOMO driven grindfest live services only serve to compound that.
Publishers want you playing their game like it's a 2nd job these days to meaningfully progress or achieve anything. It doesn't even need to be kids etc, even if you're young and work full time, games simply aren't designed to respect your time anymore. They either want you spending all of your time grinding or all of your £££ to skip said grind.

He's fallen out of the streaming meta pretty hard, I honestly thought he already retired tbh, haven't heard his name for a long time.
I'm sure he still has a larger following than most streamers, but I didn't think he was relevant to the point of getting his own game either.
How so? Can UK gamers (myself included) not play Activision games on Xbox now that this deal is blocked? Oh wait, Activision is THIRD PARTY and already publishes on every platform...
I don't get this dumb position that gamers are somehow losing out because of this. Even on the "10 year deal" spam MS was doing, there's nothing stopping Activision themselves cutting the exact same deals tomorrow for all the cloud services out there.
RIP Tony "Thick44", he and the Neebs crew have brought me entertainment for a decade and I'm thankful I got to experience his content.
Even if BF2042 will forever be a huge letdown, this is a classy move, well done DICE.
I'm not happy at all about this trend of the entire game not being on the disc, but this by no means makes digital and physical the same.
1) You can get physical copies cheaper day 1 than digital storefront prices 99% of the time.
2) You can install it on any system you like regardless of the online account and don't have to worry about licenses being tied to certain accounts
3) When you're done with it you can trade it in or sell it.
...
Replying to my own comment to see if someone wants to own up to disagreeing with a fact and elaborate which platform they have that requires code activation to use the disc. MW2 does not have an activation key on console, disagreeing with objective fact is a certified N4G moment.
Still no. Give everyone the opportunity to apply for whatever it is they want to do, then select the best people for role, simple as that.
Basing hiring etc on race/religion for any reason (bad or good) is the textbook definition of racism. Just keep that stuff out of it.
