Since you already know it, here is a disagree on my behalf
If you can explain why you think it's stupid, I will explain why I disagree :)
Exactly my thoughts as well. Sounds regressive. It will just fragment game development even further. I guess we need to wait and see how many developers would bother to adopt it
"Fox Engine was created with the current generation in mind. Maybe with other games that are being created exclusively for next-gen it might look a little behind."
Kojima, humble as always
Excellent! If this is how it performs right now, it can only improve from here. May be they will improve video compression artifacts as well.
Whoa!!! Dog tail knocking over a PS4??? That must be one heck of a husky! :D
Phew!
@cyguration
Haha! Oh well... Was trying to appeal to the rational person hidden somewhere in there. :D
Trash the article just because they highlighted Madden?? It's just an example (amongst many other valid ones) they want to highlight to show the evolution of visuals. And madden has improved since 2007. The animations may still suck, but that wasn't the point of the article.
Well ND released uncharted a year after ps3 launch and that was a far cry from the sequels or the last of us from a technical standpoint. Engines simply take a long time to mature, like any piece of software. Developers, no matter how good they are, will have to scramble towards launch, since the specs remain fluid until a few months before launch and the early dev kits are unstable as well. Too many unknowns and variables that devs need to get to grips with.
Good catch. Not surprising since it's Polygon. Even if we set aside the conspiracy theory you have mentioned, which I have no comments on, the screenshot that gets everyone to click and discuss is the one they would choose. That's how they roll! :D
I almost jumped in excitement before I saw "in Europe" :/
I agree with this wise person. Tech demoes and target physics for actual games are two different things. Look at all the unreal engine videos out there, like elemental, infiltrator or the good samaritan. Who knows when actual games would use all that functionality and look like that?!
@Outside_ofthe_Box
I did not "compare" TVs to consoles. I gave an analogy.
I totally agree with everything you said, except for the last point. Power becomes important when all other factors are equal. Let's say you are primarily interested only in a multi-platform competitive multiplayer game, say Battlefield. If someone tells you one system would give a smooth 60 FPS, while the other can have occasional frame drops, which would hinder gameplay...

@Outside_ofthe_Box
I feel the argument is valid as long as there is an actual credible source making the argument (and we don't know that right now). As a consumer, if you were to buy a TV, and everything seems the same, but one has better power rating and slightly better contrast, would you not be interested in understanding those differences so you make an informed decision? Small differences are still worthy of comparison, if done right.
I think the point of the debate is for consumers primarily interested in multi-platform games to be able to choose the console that they can feel confident about having the best experience available for the price. Not everyone can afford both (or all 3 if Wii U is to be considered).
Having said that, I don't see the point having the debate without verified sources. It seems like reporting on rumors and secretive insiders has become the new form of sensational gaming journ...
My pants are made from 200,000 voxels. Guess what Resogun will do to it?
I find it strange and disappointing that the comments section for any preview on this game is totally barren! It looks fantastic! Is no one interested?
Especially when Shuhei Yoshida says there would be no surprises, there have to be surprises. He is such a master troll! :D
