I think the point the writer was trying to make was that the graphics don't look next gen. Compare those graphics to any other next gen game and they don't even come close.
The writer briefly mentioned the controls, which I guess can mean gameplay (somewhat). I watched the video and the gameplay looks identical. The slide function and lean are kind of cool, but Rainbow Six Vegas allowed you to lean. Ghost Recon Future Soldier lets you slide into cover.

Yea I agree. Both consoles are going to sell. I think the PS will sell better initially, but down the road I think it will be pretty close. In a couple months after both consoles launch, all the negative press for MS will subside and it will be about the games. In the end, doesn't it come down to the games? Only time will tell but I'm happy with some of the changes they made to improve the system.
I wont even use the Kinect, except for maybe Skype. I think they felt like they HAD to incorporate it to get it in people's homes. Problem is, majority of people don't want it lol. Removing the mandated Kinect connection is great. Who want to go to their friends house and lug around the kinect just so they can play a non kinect game? Good move by microsoft, but they should still remove it and make it an optional purchase, or make a version for $100 cheaper that doesn't include it....
Maybe it's just me, but the graphics didn't WOW me at all compared to Battlefield, Titanfall, Metal Gear, Forza, etc etc. The game looked better but I was disappointed in the graphics. Gameplay basically looks the same as all previous COD, just some enhancements.
Next-gen games I want to look and feel like next-gen. The COD multiplayer just didn't do it for me.

I completely agree they are in the business to make money. To be a successful business you have to make money its simple economics.
My thing is they have been making Playstation for what, 15 years now? The PSN+ is generating profits, the DLC and all the items on their network they get some cut of, so I think charging PS consumers for online is just a way to make extra money, which Microsoft does and other companies as well. This is def the worst launch and PR campaign for a new system. PS3's was pretty bad but all everyone complained about was the price and PS didnt change anything when they launched it.
XBOX is in a corner. They can't scrap the system and start over because PS4 would destroy them even more and XBOX would never get out from under the carpet. Theres not much left to change except maybe the price (which I currently dont mind). To me, they have to do something to win back ...
I don't know any hard core gamers who use a Kinect. I think its more of a family tool or a way to get younger people to buy an Xbox because Xbox is seen as the more hardcore system, where Wii and PS are more kid and family friendly. Basically we can all blame Nintendo lol. If they never came out with the Wii, we wouldnt have stupid things like Kinect, PS Eye, and PS Move. Nintendo found a market no one had tapped into yet and now everyone wants a piece.

I really can't wait for the system to launch and then get a couple months into the next gen era. Every game is like that. I guess they used COD as an example because of the popularity and the ability to choose a female as your character. I can guarantee plenty of guys will pick a female character just so they can run around and dominate people and act like a women just kicked their ass. Every game should include females as character.
