Well, yea it's hardware parity. You only need to factor for one config, that being said it's typically parity with less than desirable results because the hardware doesn't change. Everyone running at the same low fluctuating framerate and lower res isn't as much an advantage as it is a collectively accepted burden that HAS to be tolerated on a closed platform. Great for the developer because less work, but an often lesser than experience for the player.
Reminding everyone why rappers die young.
Nobody said it had to be modern, a change of setting would be welcome after almost two decades of what feels like the same thing over and over.
The only controller I'd consider using to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the Steam Controller, mainly because of its customizable radial menus that handle the many hotkeys required, something that traditionally works best with a mouse and keyboard.
Relying on studios to update their game's settings whenever they get around it, if at all, to fully utilize your own hardware sounds incredibly annoying.
None so as much as this singleplayer game with only two mainline entries. It's thus far had 16 known PS4 bundles across the world, most of which it's filling the tertiary slot among other titles included. COD and FIFA has been part of cultural zeitgeist for many years, with dozens of games to build upon that. They're actually very popular franchises. Despite sales figures, which at this point could largely be attributed to the inclusion in console bundles, this series remains rela...
Between being included in almost every PS4 bundle, and licensing in other games they keep trying to brute force this IP into being part of the cultural zeitgeist. It's just not gonna happen. Sony, you've got better stuff to make a mascot from.
@Einhander1972
There's a difference between hardware accelerated and hardware based, checkerboarding is a not a purely hardware solution, it requires a software solution that's accelerated by hardware. This isn't difficult to understand.
@CrimsonIdol
As I said, it's a combination of older techniques.
@Einhander1972
Checkerboarding on the PS4 is hardware accelerated, the hardware assists in accelerating and optimizing the rendering process, but the checkerboarding algorithm and pixel reconstruction are mainly managed through software techniques, such as those I stated, which checkboarding is based around to even function.
@Eonjay
While first on consoles checkerboarding comes from a combination of several techniques that existed on PC, such as TAA, DRS, SSAA, and bicubic/bilinear filtering.
Brand cultists are indeed a mentally ill bunch. Due to lack of a father figure growing up or something.
In the context that counts, it's a flop—at least as far as the suits at EA with their unrealistic expectations are concerned, this is the final Dragon Age game, and potentially the final Bioware game.
@Jingsing And more often than not those "custom tailor made ports" run and look like ass with no recourse, unlike Steam Deck where you can change the settings to your liking. Rather have choice than no choice.
Eh, they more accurately killed themselves with years of terrible choices, Sony just got bamboozled by them into paying to strip and bury them. Turns out moving on from Halo was the worst thing to happen to them, and Halo.
@anast Hardware isn't the issue here. It's developer incompetence. After a few updates none of this will matter.
Naughty Dog's engine may just be a spaghetti code nightmare since this isn't the first port of their work to end up like this, now by two different studios. Who knows.
