I think the overarching problem is that far too many games are scoring in the 7-9 range. It seems like a majority of these titles that are landing 7's and 8's are really just 5's and 6's. The result, of course, is that when games that actually deserve an 8 emerge (Assassin's Creed and Uncharted are both good examples, imo) they look like 10's when compared to the other 7's and 8's floating around.
I don't really understand. Is the notion that people should not believe the bad reviews and only believe the good ones? Technically and graphically this is a very nice game; it does a lot toward showing what the PS3 is capable of. Where I lose touch with people saying this is some AAA "10 out of 10" is in the fact that it's pretty much just a shooter with some platforming thrown in. There's no stealth, no real "exploring" despite the theme, it's linear ... I mean, it's just not all that. 8/10 is about right, hardly an "unfair" score.
