it could be many reasons. one is kinect and its voice controls. one is also how the consoles are divided by each region. sony could have twice as many places they are releasing in but half the amount of systems m$ has in those same regions....

a 1gb patch for a handheld game? ridiculous and like others have said, even more ridiculous considering the price of the memory cards. you would think after all the lengthy installs and large patches on the ps3 that sony would be able to do these things better, especially on a handheld.

from a consumers perspective it doesn't matter whose fault it is. they want the best experience possible on the available hardware. if i buy a bluray movie and the quality is no better than a cheaper dvd copy i would feel shafted. this is why sony has made the ps4 much easier for developers, so that these things don't happen again.

its actually a good question since a lot of people will own both because the xbone will not be backwards compatable. plus the hdmi input on the xbone will allow the x360 to be plugged into it.
think about it, you can have join multiplayer requests coming from both systems simultaneously.
