I love this game. I've rented it two times and I'm gonna rent it again. Problem is that the single move controller is out of stock here for a few months now. Otherwise I would have bought it already. It's ok using the dual shock as 2nd controller, but not as good as using a 2nd move.
I like MAG. I was kinda disappointed when the open beta was done. I've ordered it today. The reviewer has a point with the grenades. But that's the only thing which was kinda irritating in my eyes. Otherwise MAG is awesome. Objective based, lots of people, and almost no lag. Yeah, MW2 is awesome as well, but I often experience lag and the whole migration and host change kill the fun. Anyway, can't wait to play.
Funny thing is even if the servers were up for 2 days already, there's no way to expect a perfectly coordinated group this early. Sorry, but I would be very disappointed, if the maps were that easy to memorize. Even MW2 took me a few days to really progress.
So their main argument against it, looks pretty silly on 2nd sight.

Actually there's no real winner and most dvd burners/players are multiformat. Blu-ray on the other hand seems to have no real competitors.

It is interesting what he writes, that Sony build the ps3 with having the ps4 in mind. That would explain their huge investment into this machine.
But only naives conclude, that the ps4 could be released in 2016. Hirai's statement was just in regard to ps3 support, which surely doesn't include a hint to the ps4 release date.

They focus on different kinds of games. More party and fun like. I enjoyed the Game Cube last gen. But it was so sad, when they suddently stopped supporting the console too soon. Sony on the other hand still support the ps2. So that's what I really dislike about Nintendo.
Does anyone seriously believes, that Microsoft will release a console without a disc drive and DD as only information source? That would definately ruin them.
Internet and DD is cool, but it's an illusion to believe it will overtake Blu-Ray. I even bet, there will be another format before Broadband and DD overtakes it.
I mean, they need to make Internet accessible and foolproof. It has to be as easy as pluging in a dvd or blu-ray player to the TV. Then we can talk about success. ...

I also wonder, how significant the decompression of dvd data affect the speed. I think most of the blu-ray games don't use any compression. But I might be wrong.

I guess blu-ray games are also mastered, so the "important" information must be close to center. Assuming that a blu-ray game has the same amount of data as a dual layer dvd, it will take only aprox 1/6 of disc space.
So my conclusion is, that it doesn't change rpm as drastically as a dvd drive with clv, also considering the slow speed of 2x. So I think there won't be that much of a lag.

Hmm? Beside MAG, you forgot to mention the announcements of GoW3 and DC Universe. Heavy Rain was already announced, so the gameplay was the only new stuff concerning Ps3 games. And when we talk about new gameplay scenes, E3 had a lot more to offer, simply cause it takes place before GC.
Don't get me wrong. There were definately a similar number of new announcements on both conferences.

I personally don't care, if Sony makes profit or not, as long as the ps3 support last as long as they've stated. Damn, that was a sad experience, when I went with the GameCube last gen.
In the end this is very good news for Ps3 customers. It shows, that the Ps3 is indeed a very worthwhile console, sold even below value.
Well, finally another life-sign of blu-ray on pc. I hope discs and recorders get cheaper soon, cause at the moment it is cheaper just to buy another hard drive instead. DVDs have become too small for my personal need anyway.
