I'm actually okay with where Earthbound is; it's a good game, yes, but the style of it does make it a "not-for-everyone" game.
I'm still amazed at the work that dedicated map-makers can do through Forge, all with a 360 controller and not a keyboard and mouse.
You poor, poor soul...
I really did, but I can see why people don't like it; it just doesn't have the feel of a Resident Evil. Sure, it has the biological monsters and mutants and Wesker and Chris Redfield and a few more whose mention would be spoiling the game, but there's something missing.
I wonder if people would like Resident Evil 5 if it was a spinoff or something else completely, rather than a primary installment.
Yeah, I'd agree with the statement that Tolkien as well as C.S. Lewis have set the standard for what people today think when they hear "fantasy."
That said, Tolkien's handling of timelines in Two Towers and Return of the King is just terrible. There's a reason it was called an "unfilmable series".
People are finally starting to figure out that just because the game's been advertised for months and a great deal of production value was poured into these advertisements, it isn't guaranteed to be a good game. One cannot let the hype color their vision of the game before it comes out.
That said, given all I've seen and read of Fallout: New Vegas, I would agree with the 6.5 given in this review. People do enjoy it, but this game is far from a quality product.
I'm willing to rent this game at least once before giving an opinion, after reading this article and others. I like the sound of Hardcore mode, and crafting and modding has at least piqued my interest.
Still, it sounds just as buggy as the last game, with potential freezes. If you're willing to overlook those, good on'ya, but I don't like the idea of companies releasing a game when they know there's all these different bugs. Thinking "It may not happe...
I think I may skip these games. Not at all interested in 'em. D:
Much as I love these series, Nintendo needs to try and find other potential ideas and give them a chance. As much as I like Mario, Samus and Kirby, I've seen them for years, all the way from the beginning of my gaming hobby in the late eighties to now.
A new Star Fox game wouldn't hurt though. Unlikely, it might just be remakes from here on out for that series. But a gamer can still dream for the first series he loved...
I don't think Square Enix needs any help being brought down.
It actually looks like fun; gotta get to trying that out...
I'll give it a shot; it's nice to play a DotA game when it's designed well!
As much as I love the Etrian Odyssey games, I still stress and warn people that it is a Rogue-Like RPG, and this series is especially brutal about it. It's a game with a good deal of challenge and a thin margin of error; if this is your first experience with a Rogue-like, it's going to be tough.
But, if you know what you're getting into when a game is designed to be Rogue-like, you're golden.
Tabula Rasa's been dead since February last year?
... And I was just thinking about pulling out my old discs and getting back in.
Ah well, it feels nice that I own a collector's edition copy of a dead MMO. All it does now is take shelf-space, but still a nice keepsake. I had fun with the time I put into it!
I'm all for reboots, but only when they're done right. I'm already in disagreement with this new design for Dante. It didn't look like they were trying to reinvent the character more than just make it appeal to the greatest number of people or what's deemed trendy now.
With Raiden, they took a androgynous V.R.-trained soldier and turned him into a deadly cyborg ninja you don't want to mess with. Good on you, Kojima!
With Dante, it hone...
I'm still willing to give Halo: Reach a chance and play it before I say anything about it, but I'm still hesitant; I'm part of the crowd that liked Halo 1 and 2 the most.
I'm willing to give Rift a shot, though honestly I'll be going into it a skeptic.
Alan Wake pulled off its television-like experience well in my opinion, and the plot made for a great ride. I do admit that the ride felt short in the end, like they could've done a bit more, but damn was it fun.
When done well, creatively, correctly and faithfully, cosplay works and can be an amazing thing to see. When done in none of the ways above, it can be embarassing.
For example, at one convention I saw someone in a faithfully crafted Master Chief Spartan-suit, complete with the assault rifle. He walked around, took pictures and such, the usual.
At times, he would take off his helmet. When he does... Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 underneath. My mind wa...
They look great, sure, but I'll still rent them and play them before I make a decision.
