That is an awesome array of gaming consoles. I haven't had nearly as many
Atari 2600 1x (may still work)
Sega Genesis 1x (sold)
PS1 2x (one stolen, one still works)
Dreamcast 1x (still works)
Xbox 1x (sold)
PS2 2x (one broke, one still going strong)
Gameboy Advanced 2x (both still work)
PSP 2x (both still work)
X360 1x (RROD, fixed still working)
PS3 1x (works like a champ)
PS Vita 1x (no problems so ...

I've always been curious as to what percentage of 360 sales were people replacing their RROD consoles. I know of many people who had their 360 die and just bought a new one (either because a new model was out, they were past warranty, or just couldn't wait for a repair). My 360 died after 2.5 years and I had mine repaired, but I bought a PS3 while I was waiting.

I will be picking up Mass Effect 3 (X360), Unit 13 (Vita), and Tales of Graces f (PS3). How's that for variety?

I'm not sure what list you were looking at but it looks like there are 6 shooters in the PS3 top 20 and 11 in the 360 top 20.

Take it from someone who works with statistics on a regular basis, average is WAY over-rated. It's easily influenced by extreme scores and gives no information about consistency of scores, skewness, or normality.

I agree with the blogger that it has too much influence. It is a great tool though because I can see what others think, but at the end of the day I know what I like and look for those things.

If you are a fan of shooters then the 360 will be just fine for you. If you like any other genre of games, I would say that the PS3 is the place to be. I have both but I have to say that over the last year my PS3 has been getting MUCH more playing time simply because of exclusives. Not only that, but I'm buying more multi-platform games on the PS3 because of it.

If popularity of shooters goes the way of music games then MS is in trouble, but I don't really see that...

For the most part I love DLC. It has expanded my enjoyment of great games even after I've finished playing them. Just like anything there is good DLC and bad DLC. Just take a little time to see which it is and stop complaining.

1) If their is someone stupid enough to buy something, there will be someone there to sell it too him.
2) The value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it.

The problem is that Nintendo is pushing the controller as the main emphasis of the console itself. If the experience is the same using a traditional controller than what's the point?

Also, is it a hardcore console or another Wii? It's hard to be both. Nintendo looks like their trying to be both and may end up handicapping both at the same time.

Finally, sharing is all well and good, but if one person has a definite advantage with one controller ove...

These things usually blow over in a short amount of time. Even knowing this, I'm surprised how quickly this seems to be behind most people. At the end of the day, there doesn't seem to be any real impact to those who may have had their info stolen (I would think if people's credit cards were being used it would be showing up all over N4G). People are back to playing their online games like nothing happened, and people are mostly pleased with new free games, PS+ memberships, fre...

If CoD had innovated along the way I would have not become a CoD hater. The yearly whoring of a CoD title has become cliche as a cash in on a popular title. Has CoD really progressed or has it recycled similar content on a yearly basis to exploit it's popularity.

I am extremely hopeful that that Battlefield 3 brings something new to the table and gives me something to get excited about. So far BF3 has had very positive buzz, and I hope that it will deliver.

You are always going to have the irrational hate when it comes to videogames (same for tv shows, celebrities, movies, books, etc). We will never be rid of it so I just ignore it as a fact of life. Everyone is entitled to an opinion (even if you think their opinion is stupid).

I just hate that it's ruined some of the games that I was really looking forward too because they changed it to be more like CoD.

I don't know if they ran out of ideas, the industry has passed them by, they can't compete with large development costs, or what. I would love to see more Japanese game options. I'm glad that Atlus and NIS are still bringing games over to the States, but where are console rpg's and action games?

In the wake of tragic events in Japan I can understand why there may not be a huge presence at E3 though, but this is hardly something new (the lack of games that is...

I agree that people can play what they want to play and still be "gamers" (whatever that really means is debatable), but the rise of CoD has impacted the industry in a negative way. You have games that instead of trying to come up with the next best thing just ape CoD and hope the same people will buy their cookie cutter crap.

There are a lot of CoD players who only play CoD and have no idea that there are different (some would argue better) options out their. And...

PSV easily. The 3D on the 3DS is neat but not something that enhances the gameplay experience. If the PSV opens up their store to something that will include Apple or Android style games, it will be the best of both worlds. Imagine NOVA2 with analog sticks and actual triggers (it would actually be playable). Games like Angry Birds or Cut the Rope or Galcon Fusion will work just as well on the PSV as they will the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

But the fact is that the PSV wil...

I'm looking forward to this battle. I think that the CoD franchise is peaking or peaked with Black Ops. You can only recycle the same game so many times before people move on (other than sports nuts). The yearly iterations, new competition (BF3), and the money grab with Elite mark what I think will be the decline of CoD.

After Black Ops I decided that I won't support Activisions approach to gaming. I don't know if I will buy BF3 but so far it's pretty enti...

While in general I agree with the post, I think that placing people into two categories (casual/hardcore) is TOO black and white. I think of it as casual/core/hardcore. While I would qualify as hardcore from the checklist, I think of myself as more of a core gamer. I only occasionally play older games (love my PSOne classics on my PSP) and will try to finish games on harder difficulties. However, I often don't finish games or come back a year later to do so. I have definite preferenc...
