Whoa (supposed) fellow Canadian. It's only an extra $20 PER YEAR.
That still works out to less than $6 per month total, and only an extra $10 a year more than Microsoft has been charging for Live Gold for who knows how many years (which up until a couple years ago only offered multi-player, no free games.) Over the course of a year, the free games you receive with PS+ are arguably worth quite a bit more than the $10 difference.
So it's only a matter of time before the technology becomes mainstream. Last reports state that by 2011 to 2012 the auto-stereoscopic models of 3D televisions will be mainstream.
Toshiba, Sharp, Philips, Sanyo and others all have models available now that are used in airports, malls, museums, etc.
