Thank Christ. I've been looking to scratch my DBZ itch for a while, and it's about time someone stepped up and made a worthy successor to Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Will be looking to pick this up in the near future, great article :)

I don't want to be that guy, but I would like to point you to the General Internet Fuckwad Theory: a normal person, given anonymity and an audience, is going to be a total fuckwad. It sucks, and we need to fix it, but it exists now, and that also sucks.

It depends on the game whether or not a difficulty slider is necessary. If they feel that the difficulty is not worth the effort, or if the game's measure of difficulty is simply being "throw more dudes at the player", then certainly not. Otherwise, I see no reason why the player can't judge for themselves whether a game should be difficult or not.

I think it's a question that needs to be asked in hindsight. 1998 and 2007 are good years looking backwards, sure, but we couldn't say that they were big deals before they happened. I will admit that 2016 is looking promising. Time will tell if it will be memorable.

It seems somewhat unfathomable that all of these places won't be visited. I will be waiting for the day that somebody writes a code that does that, but somehow I think that defeats the purpose of what No Man's Sky represents.

Any company that endorses accessibility in the video game community gets a thumbs up from me. Good Guy GOG remains so. Although having that as a abbreviation has one too many G's for my liking.

Jak And Daxter needs a proper new installment on a next generation console. The last release it had was a platformer slash flight game for the PSP. They deserve a better sendoff than that, surely.

Final Fantasy VII is a game so large that it needs to be released in segments to do it justice with today's technology. Think of it as the equivalent of the old system of having different parts of the game on different discs for the PS1, except that each game is its own fully fledged story, coming together in a trilogy as the hunt for Sephiroth comes to a close.

That, and having the games as seperate parts gives more time to expand on story elements that were never explor...

I have only heard good things. My girlfriend won't stop going on about it - like a mix of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. The developer has made something special here, props to him.

Love the premise, not sure if I'm 100% on board with the rogue-like elements it suggests. Something like this could be an amazing, story-driven experience with random encounters littered through. If it becomes too much like a rogue-like, it could dilute the impact and meaning of the story. Looks interesting though.

Looks like a lot of typical third-person beat-em-ups to me. It's the kind of genre that ebbs and flows. I'll wait until the game launches in earnest until I make a solid judgement.

Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The only time the Ratchet And Clank series ever put a foot wrong is when they deviated in their spin-offs. Every other game has played well, looked gorgeous and has been a joy to play. This might be the game to push me to buy a PS4.

You mention Contra, which is crazy hard. My personal hardest game I have ever played is actually one of the sequels: Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS.

I picked it up for shits and giggles. I loved the original Contra, and I wanted to get a copy for me to carry around with me. What followed was hours of masochistic gameplay. Normal difficulty is described to be as hard as the original, which is brutal. But there is a Hard difficulty. Let that sink in for a moment. I got to Stage 3...

Cancer is a bitch. Hopefully one day we'll be in a world where diseases like this don't snatch away people like him. RIP, thanks for the awesome games.

Any system where you are paying for a unfinished product, or for a product that doesn't exist yet, is bad for consumers. Plain and simple. You give money to a project that doesn't get finished and they pocket the profits? Not their problem. They half-complete it and package it as the "real deal" while failing to fulfill promises made of the project? Not their problem. Look at Double Fine's Kickstarters and you can see what kind of anti-consumerism these practices lead to...

"Although I haven’t played it myself, I was pretty sure that the Gears of War 3 wrapped the story up pretty nicely, big pink bow and all."

Spot on. We don't need another Gears, because the story is over and there's no more sharks for them to jump.
