Actually Sony started this during the PS2/Original Xbox era. Sony bought 2 years exclusivity fore GTA 3 and Vice Citye wase exclusively on PS2 for one year.
Well Sony won't try to buy the franchise they'll just buy playstation exclusivity to keep the inevitable Hogwarts 2 off Xbox, PC and Nintendo. No one does it better than Sony.
And I counter it's been fun to watch Sony cry like a big wounded baby telling anyone who'll listen they can't survive without COD. Sony wants to dictate what MS does with a company they are purchasing But all the backroom third party deals Sony routinely engages in are just fine business as usual.
Have you considered Nintendo releasing a new console that will run COD? And also this deal is going thru with or without Sony's approval.

True.PS fans have this elitist demeanor that i find hilarious lol. When Sony buys exclusivity with third party devs to keep games off Xbox they applaud then cry if MS does it. Funny how they don't mention the fact Sony still hasn't handed over the documents detailing all their exclusivity dirt.

If that were true and Square sees no value in putting their games on Xbox then why does Sony pay Square for timed exclusity?
Have you ever considered that maybe Sony first party games don't appeal to everyone? Last gen I bought a PS4 and a PS4 Pro. The only Sony exclusives I bought were God of War and Uncharted. The rest while I'm sure were great games just didn't appeal to me.
