It's ridiculous that any time someone criticizes a console or it's company, everyone drops the "fanboy" bomb. Brands die, it's not a big deal. Nintendo even dropped the "Game Boy" brand. That doesn't mean they're no longer making games and portables.

I don't disagree with either of you. I'm sure if there was no way to check game completion/achievements, I would've felt great knowing I beat the game with no help.

With practice, for me years worth, I'll eventually be good at them. If I played Dark Souls for years without looking for help, I still wouldn't have considered wearing the Darkwood Seance Ring in front of that statue.
