"My opinions and preferences concerning a female Link have nothing to do with any of these people, and I don't appreciate you assuming so."
I'm not assuming that you and the agenda-pushers have anything in common. That wasn't the point of the questionnaire, the point was to address every possible argument/reason regarding Link being a woman. I wanted to communicate my thoughts to as many different opinions as possible.
However, it's ...
@coolbeans
Well, thank you for the feedback. It's a good thing you showed up before I posed this questionnaire to another site, otherwise I'd catch all kinds of hell.
The bloody things certainly needs to be segmented, that's for flipping sure.
"Looks more like a Gish Gallop rather than an "easy-to-digest questionnaire," and it's no surprise to see which kind of people will salute that tactic when it just so happens to work in their favor."
Well, that's the idea, I'm not just referring to people who are "mild" about the subject, but also to those who're aggressive or have an agenda to push. That's why some of the questions are only relevant if you answered a certain ...
So much I want to say, but I'm pressed for time so I'll just list my points in an easy-to-digest questionnaire:
To anyone who asks why can't Link be Female? please answer the following questions:
Link isn't really a character, he's a blank slate, a role for the player to fill. How do you get a strong, well-written female character out of LINK, a silent, nearly characterless protagonist who's meant to represent/reflect whoever's cur...
terrorist hunt? split-screen terrorist hunt?
Would probably look better if you actually cel-shaded it to look like an anime character. Throw in the anime speed-lines every time I get a combo going, really OWN the anime style. You did it perfectly with the Animated Series skins from Arkham City, I know you can do it.
I guess I shouldn't expect much though from a free costume.
Neither is Tomb Raider.
In fact, it's quite obvious that title is only there to exclude Tomb Raider from the debate.
"Survival Adventure"? I feel like you slapped that title on there to exclude it from the AAA bloodbath of other, more exemplary titles.
I don't consider Tomb Raider a "Survival adventure" game. It was more an Uncharted clone with RPG elements than anything else. Sure, the marketing had me excited for a survival-style Tomb Raider, and the beginning has a perfect start-off, but the game quickly devolves into set-piece driven, arena-shooting, arcady actio...
@ginganinja
"Why do you assume youtubers are somehow more reliable than traditional websites? If anything, due to smaller size, there's less accountability or need for transparency."
I don't assume, Ginganinja, I observe. And from my observations, it's been youtubers who report on shady happenings, while journalists sit and twiddle their thumbs. It's been youtubers who criticize anti-consumer business, while journalists defend it. <...
@ginganinja
Publishers giving us information directly doesn't sound like that bad of thing really. I mean, think about it,
why even support these sites anymore?
I can get all the official publisher information from Youtubers, the same youtubers who're also willing to signal boost and report on any shady happenings as well. I don't see that happening as much with video game journalists.
So I ask you, why keep them ...
Almost clicked the link again.
Oh, Joystiq, I will certainly miss their narrative pushing, as well as their pretentious opinion pieces like "gaming while black". I don't know how I'll be able to live without female-written reviews getting swarmed by white knights every time the review is legitimately criticized.
Where else will white knights go support and defend women in gaming for all the wrong reasons?
I suppose there...
I think the takedowns need to be a bit more interactive. I'd prefer fluid, quick-time button prompts as opposed to simply watching a drawn out fight scene.
I was waiting for someone else to point this out, I didn't want to be THAT guy.
I almost clicked on the link.
Is the title broken or is it just me...?
Shouldn't it read "6 *game cancellations *that made us very sad"?
Granted, this is coming from someone who consistently uses an internet meme as the title for a blog, so...
Didn't we see zombie-like enemies used in MGS4? Remember the soldiers who were suddenly cut off from the SOP system (basically a system that turns all the pain/emotion reception off), turning them into shambling, brain-dead killers?
I don't know about you, but it certainly felt like I was defending an APC from a horde of the undead in MGS4.
Also, like others have pointed out, Metal Gear isn't unfamiliar with spooky. We've seen the series dabbl...
I think it's just opportunistic clickbait. It gets hits, just like the controversial and vitriolic crap that sites like Polygon and Kotaku spew. It's all about the Benjamins.
"No Hayter"
Okay, that I can understand, even though it's not really a legitimate enough reason to write off the whole game. In fact, I'm actually excited that they're finally treating Big Boss as his OWN CHARACTER. It's about time we started seeing him as Big Boss and not Solid Snake 2.0. The fact that he's even starting to look like the version from MGS4 is a nice touch.
"Focus on Action"
What does th...

"did you have a word to say when the legacy one of the most important female led series in movie history was pissed on by gearbox?"
Well for one, the Ripley role (that is, the female lead) wasn't given to a man, because there was no Ripley role (or "lead role"). You were put into the perspective of some marines, and that was the point. A sausage fest of marines, sure, but marines nonetheless. Side characters.
Two, we're talking abo...
