@SquidBuck There are good examples of fps games done well. For example to half-life series and the original red faction merged fps combat and story very well. I've always been partial to killzone myself especially the 2nd installment

Can't stand multiplayer trophies myself. This is because often servers will cease to operate and trophies will become unobtainable or there will be a lack of players to play against.

The competition wasn't that great this year with Bethesda not having any huge announcements and EA failing to deliver practically anything on either Mass Effect or their Star Wars games.

The problem that gaming corps have is the immense pressure to perform well at conferences such as E3. They therefore will rush initial announcements and trailers in order to produce a good show.
