I couldn't agree more. It doesn't make much sense to blow so much cash on a property that's likely well past its peak in the public eye. Minecraft is likely to be relevant for several more years, and remain a casual hobby for many of its players, but Microsoft would have been better off building up some brand new IP.
I wouldn't necessarily rule out the possibility of Dragon Ball: Xenoverse including RPG mechanics and/or open-world exploration, even if its still a fighting game at its core. While the developers giving me a demonstration couldn't comment on those topics yet, the simple fact they didn't outright say "No" when I asked about open-world exploration certainly has me hopeful.
Any chance you have a link to that Botman post? Not denying its existence, just would like to see the full statement. It might be the sort of thing that helps reduce the number of "This is just another expansion..." reactions I'm seeing around the web.
I thought for sure I'd feel the same way. After all, I spent about 80+ hours with Borderlands 2, and that's far more than a games writer typically has the luxury of spending with any one game. But Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel just didn't feel like something I need to own. Even when it inevitably turns up on a Steam Sale.
Kind of shocked to see all the positive reviews for this one, considering how little promotion there has been. Guess I'll have to pick up a copy after all.
Sad to see all the middle-of-the-road reviews for this one. Was really hoping it might sneak up and be one of the first great PS4 games of the year.
That remains one of my biggest concerns as well. SOE seemed certain that PlanetSide 2 would be ready for PS4 at launch and we haven't even been given a timeline for its debut yet. The fact that the studio is already floating the idea of H1Z1 on PS4 during its live streams is definitely concerning.
Couldn't agree more. I'm glad they've confirmed at least one new villain will be in the game, but I'm hoping they keep most of the lineup a secret this time. The lack of mystery was one of the many things I didn't like about Origins.
In some ways I agree, especially if you already own a decent gaming PC, but there are some pretty great games on the PS4. I'm not sure that I'd call Killzone or Second Son a "must play", but they're quality entries in their respective genres. Don't Starve, SteamWorld Dig and some of the other indie releases are great too, but probably less-impressive if you've already played them on another platform. I'd guess that perceived depth of the catalog will probably...
Even as someone who does keep up with most of the major release dates, it's pretty shocking to see just how much content is coming to PS4 this year, especially when you really start thinking about the total number of hours of entertainment being offered. Destiny alone could probably keep me busy for three months.
I've actually been sending Ultimate Evil inquiries to my Blizzard rep on a weekly basis, but I can't even get them to specify what time of year it'll be out. I suspect they'll want to put some distance between Reaper of Souls and Ultimate Evil Edition, though, to prevent the cannibalization of sales.
It's a bit of hyperbole, but I think it's pretty impressive that Blizzard managed to take a game almost nobody wanted to play anymore, breathe new life into it and sell nearly 3 million copies of an expansion in just seven days. Most companies would need to release a sequel to see that kind of turn around.
I think bringing him back as a unique character would certainly be more interesting than it was seeing him try to convince people Batman uses guns in the comics.
The problem with this argument is that you're operating under the assumption that I'd give World of Warcraft (or any current MMO) a significantly higher score. Guess what?
I wouldn't.
World of Warcraft would probably score higher than any other MMO on the market right now, but my own preferences would keep me from giving that game more than an 8. In part because I don't look at games the same way as I did when I was in high school anymore, whe...
