I'm not sure if gamers are all that fickle, but a lot of them sure like to complain if things don't go their way. The people that funded this game have a right to complain. I can't understand why people that didn't fund it would get riled up about it, though.

I don't see how you can say it is overrated since it has an 81 on Metacritic. But it depends on how you evaluate games. If you evaluate large scale games with a ton of features and an overwrought story highly (which is the trend), then you will find Splatoon underwhelming. Nintendo decided to focus on the core gameplay, which is the correct move since it is the first in the series.... and it paid off as the game is incredibly well-designed, which is very commendable especially given it...

The UK isn't a very good market for Nintendo, no? I think Nintendo games do better in contintental Europe.

If they want it to do better they have to increase the budget to have more cutscenes and higher quality graphics and release it for the PS4 and Xbox1 instead of the Wiiu.

I wouldn't rely too much on just one review, though I can understand you not wanting to blow your money on something you don't like. The previous game is a linear RPG so it plays a bit different from this one. This one is more of a WRPG/JRPG hybrid and has improved upon it in most areas.. However it is more complex. If you like more linear games without silent protagonists, you might not enjoy it.

I kind of want to play this game for the plot because it just looks so cheesy and fun. While the game looks really rough around the edges, at least it focuses on gameplay, unlike a lot of games not being made by indies or Nintendo these days.... Though it sounds like Red Steel 2 did melee x shooting better. If Itagaki had assembled a better team, Devil's Third might have been something special because it is obvious he had a vision.

Call of Duty games are polished, well-made games. But that should be given since it is incredibly formulaic. Xenoblade X has a number of flaws. However, Call of Duty should lose points for being incredibly derivative, while Xenoblade X should gain points for its novelty and providing a fresher experience.

What X360 games have draw distances that compare with Xenoblade X? They did make some compromises on the character models, but I don't know of anything on the 360 that matches up with Xenoblade X. Technologically speaking, it may not come close to PS4 level, but artistically speaking it is something else and superior to most of what's been offered on other present gen systems.

Not a design flaw. I don't really see the gamepad as a gimmick anymore. Many of its uses were kind of gimmicky at the start with Nintendo Land and Wii U Sports, but it isn't really anymore. WiiU games are current generation in their own right because of the gamepad. Evolution isn't linear. Nintendo's major mistake was not realizing that they have to be 2x smarter and more creative than the competition in order to go against the trends as human psychology is not all that p...

If you have a chance, I would recommend Zangeki no reginleiv. Unfortunately, though it was only released in Japan. It is simple, but a lot of fun. Basically you are a Norse God who chops up giants. It's the kind of game the Wii was meant for.

Heh.. Everybody jumped to the conclusion that is was because they didn't want the foul language.. While that was likely part of it, I tried to tell people that a bigger reason is that voice chat is alienating to people whose native language isn't English (though maybe in Splatoon's case it would be the opposite) and Nintendo apparently wants their games to be played globally and appears now to be aiming for the global market rather than primarily for the Anglo world (or just Ameri...

I agree the gamepad should be redesigned and made smaller and I hope they go forward with it if they can reduce its cost and size. Nintendo made the mistake of thinking that the gamepad alone would be enough to sell systems by the bunches and made it the focal point of the WiiU. This caused it to get branded as a gimmick... However, that doesn't mean they should scrap it, because it is a superior controller and most major PS4/XBox games would benefit greatly if they were able to make us...

It was just like they took all of information from patents and announcements and combined them with a bunch of rumors that people have been spreading.

I guess because you have read plenty of idiotic comments like many of the ones below. People that ignore all of the positives and just focus on the negatives so they can believe their narrative has credence.

Yeah. Agreed. But to do what you suggest requires creative minds who are great problem solvers. I think a big problem is that the people that run most of the big game companies nowadays are not people with creative minds, which leads the companies largely settling for the status quo and producing homogenized games as they do not really have a vision for gaming. This leads them to deciding to fund games almost almost totally based on the trends. Nintendo, I think, is the only major compan...

Umm.. They listed Project Guard and Project Giant Robot as games to be released in their financial documents. Why on Earth would you make a silly statement like "I think we can safely assume Project Guard and Project Giant Robot aren't going to be full-fledged games, but rather something implemented into Starfox Zero", despite having no evidence to support your opinion other than flimsy speculation by others?

Classic should be a game that either exceeds what is presently out there or something that does something incredibly innovative.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Splatoon
Bloodborne
Xenoblade X (I live in Japan and own it)
Bayonetta 2
MK8
Mostly WiiU titles so far...

For the PS4 and XBox1, the classics still seem to be on the way, but there are some promising ones coming: Recon, Scalebound, The Last Guardian...

You do know that Nintendo had a hand in Devil's Third including development, right? I hope NOA has learned from its many stupid mistakes during the Wii and doesn't not publish this game.

I hope the game isn't just a nostalgia game and has plenty of originality. I am looking forward to playing a good 2d action rpg, though.

There are a lot of good games for the WiiU. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Bayonetta 2 are must-haves. Xenoblade X as well.
