If you look at Tom Hardware's benchmarks from last year, there's very little to get excited about with regards to Quad core. More and more games are taking advantage of 4 cores and it's obviously going to get better. But right now, for a "casual gamer" as stated in the article, 2 cores is more than enough.

It's in the culture/offbeat section - Google's new search is big news actually and it is of interest to gamers to know that Microsoft now have a monopoly on the letter X in the biggest search engine in the world in my opinion.

Of course that's true but the point of the article was that most games out now don't take full advantage of 4 cores. That was the same conclusion Tom's Hardware reached in their testing. That is all I was saying. I was not dismissing the idea of a quad core, I actually use an i7 950 myself.
