I think the next round of the so called console wars is going to be very interesting. Surely MS will learn from their hardware mistakes with the 360 and come back with a reliable system, Sony are always a strong force to contend with and perhaps Nintendo will come up with a more powerful unit funded by the profit they made from the Wii which apparently made money from day one unlike the 360 and PS3.

It was a mistake to launch the 360 Core, even their last gen console had a HDD. They got it right with the Premium and then the Elite so why do they repeat the mistake they made with the Core by releasing the Arcade SKU?? The HDD add-ons are a rip off and now Core owners have to dig deep again to play online. There are likely very many of them still getting by using a memory card - probably bought when the 360 was launched and the Premium SKU was hard to get hold of. If this is the way 360 ga...

This is a product that failed to work on the first attempt and also hurts him when he uses it and it still gets 4.5 stars? Zero credibility. The wireless headset's sound quality wasn't as good as the wired headset in my experience though I could put up with that to be rid of the wires but its battery life is poor and its vastly overpriced when you consider you can buy Bluetooth headsets for the PS3 for a few £'s. I did like the clip design though, it held the headset in place nicely and ...

I wouldn't bother with any of the add-on cooling devices, some may actually reduce the airflow rather than improve it. My two RROD's happened even though the room was relatively cool and it was on a clean shelf on ts own with plenty of space around it . Its really just the luck of the draw it seems.

Really looking forward to the release of this game

I have Sky+ but I might buy this as even now sometime we have more than one programme recording at a time yet want to watch another channel and it would be great to stream the recordings to my PSP.

John Romero is an ass, he's still living off the glory days of Doom and Quake but remember he was just one small part of a talented team, a team that carried on just fine when he left and created several more top quality games. Daikatana (sounds like a Welsh martial arts expert to me) was awful, truly awful. It was absolutely hyped to the max by Romero as some kind of 'second coming' for the FPS genre. His ego was huge and he fell flat on his face.

As much as Mike Wilson shoul...

Agreed, the article tells us nothing new its a standard TOS but as a gesture of goodwill and a morally correct thing to do they should have at the very least rolled the clock back a week on everyone's subscription.

I wonder how much MS paid him to write that article? Thats a standard TOS, anyone with half a brain cell knows thats what you agree to with just about any online service whether its an online game or ISP. While anyone with an ounce of common sense expects a certain ammount of downtime you should not expect a few days interuption in such a small space of time. If it had been only one part of the service down say voice chat dropped out then you can live with it but the whole service crashing do...

I remember the Xbox fans jumping on the news that some site made up about the 40% failure rate for the PS3, no source, also remember TheMart posting 'news' from someone's post in an internet forum claiming Sony wanting to charge him $120 for fixing a brand new PSP. no facts there either so you guys need to get your own house in order before you start shouting here.

Your comments tend to stop being valid the moment you touch the keyboard but its not stopped you yet. Its a subscription service, any such setting should have been off by default. Sony's service is free yet no intrusive adverts and while I'd not be happy if there were its not costing me anything but Microsoft want it both ways they want to charge you a subscription AND make money out of you by selling advertising space.

I used to be a 360 owner and paid subscription for LIVE, it didn't really bother me paying though the adverts started to become more intrusive. The point that writer made about friends lists being available on the PC is only partially correct. Irs great if you have a game supported by those two apps (Xfire and Steam) but if not then you have nothing. If I was still playing on Xbox Live I'd be annoyed at the downtime as well. As a subscription service they have a duty to make sure its availabl...

I think Warner Bros made their statement in time to allow MS to back out of their annoucement of a 360 with a built in HD DVD drive. We'll get some other announcement now from Bill Gates and they will deny the 'Ultimate' was ever going to happen.

If its going to fail its going to fail. I had two RROD's and yet I sat the 360 on its own shelf under the TV with plenty of ventilation all around it, I even stopped my son placing the controllers next to it after we had used it as to not disrupt any airflow that could cause it to overheat. As with all my games as soon as I stopped playing they went back in the case and were in mint condition yet my third 360 would get warm and then start failing to read disc's which was very frustrating in ...

^^

Which is why they will pick one that is not selling well so they can show projected sales figures that will be low so it saves them money. Ifthey give you a choice they have to pay off a dozen or more companies and the process will take a long time as they total up sales for each companies game.

MS will likely choose the game and they will choose the game thats not selling right now so they lose nothing and LIVE users think they are getting something to recompense them for the service being down. cynical but likely true.

MS will continue to try and screw as much money out of 360 owners as they can. They know loyal fans will buy the new SKU, it wasn't that long ago they launched the Elite and now they want to cash in again. Will games come in multi disc and HD DVD versions when games get too big to fit on a DVD just to make you feel even more of a second class user when you go to the checkout and hand over your multi disc version? If MS launch the 320GB HDD as an add-on for its poor early adopters how much wil...

Just to make Microsoft's copy of the PS3 complete they will also announce you can install another operating system just like you can install Linux on the PS3 except on the 360 you have to install Vista so once again Microsoft get the chance to make a few more bucks :)

You pay a fee to MS to use their network so they should refund you. A small ammount of downtime must be expected as with most services, electricity, sattelite TV, ISP etc but any extended periods of downtime should be compensated for by Microsoft.

Its been out for many many years, nothing new about it at all. Naturalpoint also have a gaming version of that unit, it looks exactly the same except its called a TrackIR. I and many other flight sim enthusiasts have been using it for many years.
