To be honest, I purchased it day one because I'm a huge Nintendo fan. I let nostalgia get the better of me and assumed there would have been a few more announcements like, Starfox etc, with some new IP's.
I'm also a parent and I would want my boy to experience his first game on a Nintendo console. I'm not sure if it's the Wii U or me? Maybe my tastes have changed?
If everyone agrees with the current games and strategy Nintendo have taken, ...
Agreed about 2013!
The main issue isn't the quality of games - it's the support. I have no idea when these games are coming as no publicity or talk or news is discussed. It's so frustrating in a time where communication is so easy and every other company is doing it. X has been announced for 2014, but when? And that's not a western release so we'll be lucky to see it spring 2015. But I expect summer given the localisation.
We hear about th...
I'm not in a great place with my WiiU at present. I've started culling my collection, but will hold on to the unit. Just purchased a PS4 for Metal Gear, and to be honest, I can't see any games outside if the usual crowd appearing in WiiU. Nintendo doesn't offer such experiences like open world environments, and with the lack of TP support, they won't.
I'm still holding out until E 3, if it's bleak after that I'm cutting all ties with Nintendo,...
I'm going to hold on a see what E3 brings. Between now and then I'll most likely purchase a PS4. To be honest, I just feel this Direct needs to reassure me that games are in development. With lack of TP's and huge game droughts it's a bit quiet.
I'm hearing nothing but good things about the ps4 with tons of game announcements every week. It makes my purchase begrudged somewhat. I was a pretty solid Ninty fan, but this experience has completed sapped my co...
I've lost a bit of faith in Ninty. I hope they announce something new. I'm on the verge of putting my wii u up for auction.
I'm honestly not expecting anything. Most likely more news on Mario Kart and maybe a firm date on Smash. They'll announce a load of indie titles.
I'm more keen to get a ps4 now. Alien Isolation, MGS V, Uncharted, all games that are known to exist. Nintendo hides away, leaving its consumer base in the dark with no id...
As a Wii U owner it's frustrating to constantly feel penalised for owing a Nintendo system. I think I'm going to shelve my Wii U until something starts happening. As a Nintendo customer I feel like they have abandoned all support, no information, no updates, no solid dates. It's bewildering and it's no wonder why they have been dubbed as irrelevant or out of touch.
This month one game has come out that I know of, Donkey Kong. No other games have been advertise...
Oh no. Good news. Now the gaming media have to find the next negative Nintendo article. Quick, before more good news!
I am 100% confident that Nintendo will pull out of this spin. They have an amazing team of developers, and they have Iwata - who is actually a great CEO, I know that's up for debate.
Blocking out all the media opinions, and conversations, can you sit there and honestly say come E3 2014, Nintendo won't have any surprise games, that they haven't done anything. We know Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Smash and Bayonetta are all due this year. The company has been slogging i...
I just wanted to iterate that I think the game looks fun. I didn't want my comment to be taken to the context that I thought this game wasn't. I guess my expectations have been burned. I love Ninty, but I'm really at the end of the road where I want to see evolution. Maybe I'm outgrowing the series? I was there at the very start on the SNES and it's slowly improved with each successor.
I'm in a strange place with Ninty atm. One hand I adore them, but ...
It looks fun! My only complaint is it just looks like more of the same. I was hoping that there would be a shift in gameplay dynamics or at least in the mechanics of the game. As it is it could be DLC from the wii version - just with a higher resolution. By that, i was hoping for something a little more.
That's not to say I'm not interested, but I think it shows a complete lack of creativity from the developers and it's why some nintendo fans were a let down at t...
I'm a huge Ninety fan, but I have to admit, they have themselves to blame. Maybe they got a little too comfortable. I'm sure they were aware fairly early on they needed to change, and those changes can't happen right away.
They will need to show they acknowledge and are acting on this come E3. It's going to be all about E3.
Failing that, they'll start to lose faithful followers.
If Iwata is only successful with handhelds, how did he manage to make Wii the most profitable and successful console of its generation?
And at a time when the Wii launched to venomous scathing ridicule by industry professionals citing it would fail. He also made a marginal profit with the Gamecube.
Iwata is an amazing and talented CEO. His career history is fascinating and he was dubbed a programming genius from a very early age. To be given the key to Ninte...
Bubble up for Stragomccloud. You sir, are a credit to gaming.
@LOL_WUT
Another negative comment. Like before, you can't have a perspective on your opinions. Always need to use a sly remark. Again, why bother commenting at all on a company you clearly bare hatred for. Every single comment in relation to Nintendo is bad, even when the article is reporting good news.
I'm wondering if you have even played this device at all, or are aware of any of the franchises.
This has got to be the most moronic article of the week. So many predictions, everyone's an analyst these days. Mobile gaming is not the same as console gaming which is not the same as PC gaming.
Nintendo dropping the WiiU... a company that's been around since 1890's is not in the habit of making mistakes - despite what the media will have you believe.
Because the developer, head creative at Silicon Knights, has had an exetremely dodgy past with money. Much like Pitchford abusing Sega's funds during A:CM.
Also, he couldn't use the IP, so he tried to ride on past glory from Twin Snakes and Eternal Darkness to get the money. Fortunately, people became wise and wouldn't put the funds into the hands of someone who can't be trusted with large sums of money.
I have read many of your comments. You seem to have an agenda toward the system, and you say nothing of the good aspects that have been put forth. While W101 has a relatively low sales count, it doesn't stop it from being a really good game.
I question your ability to judge something you have no actual experience with. It's easy to stand at the sidelines making sly comments through the looking glass and
your fixation on every sales statistic aimed toward Ninte...
Intelligent. :/
I feel power specs only play an initial part in selling a console, because that's all marketeers have to in their arsenal to advertise as a major factor, launch games as well providing proof of the muscle under the plastic. That and support from developers.
A year down the line it becomes more software focused. As has been the case since the console market began.
I'm of the generation that likes retro gaming as 16bit ...
Oh the dooooom and glooooom. Obviously it's impossible to comprehend that if Nintendo ditch the console business they'll sink there IP's. Nintendo went on record saying consumers will never see their IP's on any other hardware. They'll take them to the grave.
Nintendo will do fine, always have. Still the most successful video game manufacturer and have been since their first home console. By that I mean, on paper, with investors.
Whiny 3...
I'm keeping the unit. I have purchased the PS4 for Ground Zeroes, which is later end of March. I'm not abandoning my WiiU, just shelving it until Bayonetta 2 arrives. :)
