Article titles that prove that gaming sites will use any name they can to pander to their audience for more view count.

Lots of changes happen during development. There are plenty of game trailers and gameplay videos for games which feature content that ends up getting cut in the final release, this is not that different.

Besides, the game isn't even out yet. There's video reviews that showcase the graphical quality of the game as it actually is in the final release. If it's such a concern for you, sure cancel any order you might have. No harm done. No idea how this is some kind of...

Same as me. Hey, on the plus side we're getting better at seeing through distributor marketing.

More staff means bigger budget. Bigger budget means distributors feel they need to make it safe and mass market. It also usually leads to games lacking personality because the unifying vision of it gets lost.

From what I've read this sounds like an MMO with FPS gameplay, built for the console/Halo generation. Sparse in content, more so than maybe WoW when it first launched (the review notes repetition). Naturally, also a lot more simplified as an introduction to the class/item system for people who probably haven't played a lot of PC MMOs. Still, props for not going the monthly subscription option.

Straw man.

If only people didn't buy into previews or pre-commit themselves to liking a game based on pre-orders or developer fandom then they wouldn't have to come out and defend it each time a negative review comes out.

You enjoyed it? Great. Continue enjoying it. You don't need to come into every review and say why they got it wrong. That usually you would be high fiving reviewers you agree with speaks volumes.

This is why you don't buy into publishers trying to make you preorder. Wait until the game comes out, decide if it looks good, THEN decide if you want to buy it.

The logic is likely that they can guarantee a certain amount of revenue. It is well known that while the original sold a large number of copies, it wasn't a huge financial success when the costs of development were factored in.

MS may have also offered quite a lot as their console sales are not going as well as they expected so it's important for them to secure significant exclusives. This way they have guaranteed revenue. I also think later PS4/PC release is quite li...

@jebabcock
@UltraNova

But it's the same rabid fanboyism, that's my point.

This site could use some more skepticism from its users instead of just lapping up every bit of PR thrown at them.

"Programmers Sacrifices Life To Hit 1080/60fps"

Really? People can't see this as sensationalist PR? As it is, I can't be the only one who avoids the comments because they make me cringe.

Oh for the love of god, can people ease up on the TLOU Remaster 'news'?

Yes, it's 60 FPS, yes it looks very pretty.

Naughty Dog are our new deities. Okay? Can we move on now?

The amount of fanboyism over the past few weeks for just a remaster makes circle jerks look tame.

I think you hit the nail on the head that there arguably are only a few open world games that have really pulled off a connected and well told storyline.

Only briefly played RDR so I can't really comment there, but my favourite take was Mass Effect 2. It wasn't so much open world as it was the main story plus the side character plot lines being the core of the game. It wasn't open world so much as there were 10-12 separate plot lines all about 1-3 hours you could ...

I wish they would stick to what they do best, ie telling good stories. Sure they've tripled their development team so they probably have the manpower.

But for all the extra side quests that open world inevitably brings, many of which people miss, the main story loses focus, pacing and attention.

TW2 was perhaps too linear by some opinion but I'm not sure trying to outdo Skyrim in size is the best approach.

Maybe not legal action but a lot of bad press. I suppose the gaming press doesn't have much incentive to target itself. We say it when GameSpot edited their review after the fact for K&L but apparently bribes don't qualify. The problem is more the gaming fanbase doesn't understand how much popular franchises from some of these distributors are churning out recycled content and are relying on lax reviews or the label of AAA to justify positive reviews.

Or ... You might realise that if you give a sub 8 score, they might refuse not only not give you free swag but also not let you in to their exclusive previews, which would lower your value as a journalist and endanger your job.

Do I really need to explain got bribery works?

4082d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

Yes, I don't see how it justifies the price. 1 new character with D2's LoD featured 2 others? 5 hour campaign? LoD felt considerably longer.

The reason is clearly they devoted time to fixing previous mistakes but that doesn't justify the meagre content. At some level it was clearly a cynical decision to value their release timing and costs over releasing a sufficiently value for money expansion.

I don't care what it looks like. The main thing is it brings something materially different to the table over GTA V which it's clearly trying to emulate, albeit in a different setting.
