I know in my bones that Bloodborne will be resting at a 92/93 on Metacritic a week after it has released.
If it scores higher than that, I'll be very, very pleasantly surprised.
At this point, with the pre-review buzz and the leaked early impressions and Edge pseudo-verdict, the game will in no way land less than a 90.
Undoubtedly one of the best games of the year, topped only by The Last of Us for the GOTY throne. Magical, tightly created yet fiercely uninhibited in its aims, a true rarity of a video game that further cements Nintendo's ability to deliver some of the most accessible, inventive titles across any platform.
Worth purchasing a Wii U just to experience this one. Sadly, I'm unsure if it'll be enough to save the struggling console's continually deflating numbers...
I second this. Loved the first two, but I'm playing this one in 3D with max graphics on a PC. Technically, the game is incredible, and I'm surprised with just how good everything else is so far. Only a few hours into the game, but there isn't the slightest bit of money-grabbing here. Warner Bros Montreal have used Rocksteady's efforts to boost their own careers as opposed to just being the middleman for a large cash-in on previous success. Game is great so far.
Originality is certainly what the game industry needs, so I applaud Cage and company for trying something new here. How else will the industry grow if risks are not taken? This does not give them a free pass, though. The experience must be judged in terms of quality and impact, just as any game would.
