Haha MagnaVOX. A TV manufacturer. Don't know if they're still in the business tho. Haven't seen the Magnavox name in a long time.
Now try and imagine what the gaming landscape would look like if the judge had ruled in favor of Nintendo. Or if Nintendo had agreed to Sony's demands. What system would all of the PS1, PS2, and PS3 exclusives be on now? Would they even exist at all? Would Sony have still gotten into game consoles with a different name? Or would they be a software publisher like Sega is now?
I sent mine off to get fixed at the beginning of this month. It was at their repair center for a grand total of five calendar days. Or three Business days. Arrived Thursday evening, left the following Tuesday evening. FedEx is estimating Friday delivery making my total time without it 15 days. At a TOTAL cost of $99. First time I had any issue with my 40GB PS3 since I bought it in mid 2008.
Unless you can find a slim for $150-175, it's cheaper to fix it then upgrade the HDD than ...
I like that app idea, not just for iPhones though. Put it in Androids too. I'd also throw in the ability to not just be able to use it as a blu-ray remote, but also a keyboard for things like PSHome and the web browser. That would be especially nice for phones with sliding keyboards like my Samsung. Probably work best through the Bluetooth.
Several Sony TVs and Blu-Ray players already have Google TV. I can't imagine Google TV for the PS3 is too far off.
Cole would be a nice fit in MK, Megawatt Hammer, Gigawatt Blades, and of course the lightning storm.
My thinking would run something like this:
Sony Exclusive: Cole McGrath OR Kratos
360 Exclusive: the only iconic Character I can think of is Master Chief, mostly because I don't have a 360... If you want to go multiplat, Ezio Auditore could work. Or Alex Mercer.
Wii exclusive: easy.... Samus Aran
After watching the Web of Intrigue videos, I thought Proto2 was going to be Mercer vs. Pariah, Elizabeth Greene's son.
POTENTIAL SPOILER, BUT MAYBE NOT: It is entirely. Possible that the Sgt. IS Pariah, he just doesn't know it, the same way Mercer didn't realize he was the Blacklight virus until 3/4 of the way through the first Prototype.
Looks like a good sequel, no matter how the story goes.
I've never played Left 4 Dead. Like you, I only own a PS3. I think my neighbor has Undead Nightmare, I'll have to go over there and check it out when the new wears off his copy of GT5.
I like William Johnson's response to "What would be awesome with zombies in it?" A GTA: Zombie Apocalypse would be an interesting game to play. It would make the 'survival' aspect of Survival Horror much more fun to play in a free roaming environment. I didn't play Undead Nightmare because, while I'm sure it deserved every award it's received to date, and Rockstar hasn't disappointed me yet, I couldn't really get into RDR. I do like the concept though...
I can't see Rockstar just forgetting about the British Assosiation of Film and Television Arts given their three locations in and around London. They must have a reason that they feel is sound. I can't find anything providing that reason though.
Good point. I'd like to go back to the Roulette wheels in Las Venturas. A GTA: San Andreas on the PS3 is a moral imperative.
Dude WTF? "If your lady knows the name of Han Solo's co-pilot in Jedi..."
Han Solo's co-pilot is ALWAYS Chewbacca.
In Jedi LANDO CALRISSIAN was piloting the Falcon.
And now for the bonus: Lando's co-pilot was a Sullustan named Nien Nunb.
You say "nerd" like it's a bad thing.
There is a simple explanation: spread the wealth. Voters gave GOTY to RDR, so to be "fair" they gave best A\A to Assassin's Creed because they felt it deserved an award as well. It happens at the Oscars too. Very few movies win every award they're nominated for. The only exception I can think of is LOTR: Return of the King. That "share the wealth" mentality is the reason a movie, or game, will win the big prize, and not win any lesser awards. QED.
A little something to think about regarding bears:
In this example five wolves have just brought down a nice big deer. They're thinking "sweet... dinner."
A mile and a half away, a bear has caught a whiff of a fresh kill. He stands up and sniffs.
A short time later he shows up at the wolves' little dinner party, chases all the wolves off and eats the dear himself. Bears are just bullies, they're no more predators than ra...
The sad thing is, that's happened before. On August 11, 1995 Capcom released Street Fighter: the movie for the Sony PS1. A game based on a movie based on a game.
Add my name to the list of people who think Heavy Rain should be on that list. I have Assassin's Creed 2, MGS4, GTA4, and InFamous. I've played Red Dead Redemption and the demo for Bayonetta. Based on those, this is a solid list of great SP games.
Single Player is NOT dead.
People, seriously, it's not just games that make the system. Though that is the primary reason for buying a console. Whether it's the 360, the Wii, or the PS3, which really is the best of the lot, imo.
I bought a 40gb ps3 when MGS4 was released (brilliant game by the way). I'm just now sending it to Sony for repair for thee FIRST time... EVER, for any system. The reps were courteous and knowledgeable. I knew exactly what to expect and when to expect it. I should be back o...
@rrw
It was mentioned in the article, right near the top.
@zydake
It just goes to show, the PS3 just keeps getting better.
I'm beginning to think being a fanboy is a prerequisite for commenting on this site. Don't know how strictly the rule is enforced, but technically, it's probably on the books. So here's my token fanboy comment.
ANDROID FTW!!!
On topic: whether you have a pimped out gaming rig with a 2 terabyte HDD and 128 GB of RAM or a netbook that can't even play CDs, the PC beats every console for standard garden variety web surfing. Other than that, ...
I don't know if I'd go as far as saying Super Metroid was the best game ever, tho it was certainly the best of that generation. At least imo.
The 2600 was my first console. Then the market got oversaturated and crashed, so I was a PC gamer until I got my SNES,then I got the PS1, and I've been loyal to Sony ever since. I still have a PC, but the only game I play on it is Solitaire. I mostly use it for web surfing and college. I have my PS3 for games. And blu-ray movies. A...
