It really did seem to come out of nowhere. In a way I feel that benefits games today, there's no massive build of hype to contend with, and they're judged on their own merits.
Really looking forward to seeing what comes next.
This is one of those games that you really enjoy while you're playing it, and then as time goes on you start to reassess it and realise that it did a lot of things wrong. The tank battles, the boss fights, the endings...all misfires for me.
I'd love to know who took the time to collect all 296 chests in this game...and if they've since taken a step back and reevaluated their life.
In case anyone is wondering, despite the live tweet from Terry Cavanagh on the podcast, we never did get any confirmation of a release date for VVVVVV on Vita. The brilliant Terry Cavanagh told us to tweet at Nicalis, which we duly did. Sadly, we never heard back.
One day, VVVVVV will grace the Vita! I hope...
I also noticed the odd crappy texture, MyDietEqualsGames. In any other game I probably wouldn't have even registered it, but in a game that is visually stunning 99% of the time, they really stuck out when I spotted them.
Haven't tried the MP yet - might give it a shot.
A great game for 'non-gamers', thanks to the intuitive interface and compelling story. Really shows what the medium is capable of, and how it is so much more immersive than the movies.
