Reminds me of that South Park episode where they played World of Warcraft leveling up to max using only the sheep in the starting area. Well good for him, now he finally gets to play the game.

yeah, but even in the old school certain genres still had a similar issue. for JRPGs it was "international versions" or "final mixes" while with some fighting game franchises it was "tournament edition" or "bloodline rebellion" or "Super ultra turbo".

Still, your point is very valid and I remember doing that too with quite a few games. and it seems game companies model success with initial sales much like movie studios with ...

Yeah, I get fantasy universes or flamboyant personalities, but FFXV was specifically tailored to try and make it closer to reality much less do any of the characters really notice or comment on her wearing a bikini top no matter whether she is working, driving or day or night.

While I do like the idea of addressing issues after release to maybe gain sales later down the road, I am skeptical that it encourages people to stop with day one purchases and wait it out awhile. This isn't like normal patches and bug fixes, some of this is all new content and changes to core gameplay. Not add ons like DLC. And a lot of gaming companies measure success based on the initial sales, so it might make new IPs even scarcer.

Well they aren't just marketing to one market, the game is sold in many regions and countries.
and because 1 in 68 children, over 1%, is such a small and obscure group of people that nobody could possibly sympathize with herpaderp. What other inclusions did they do? A lot of women? half the population. Tracer is gay? well that is around 4-5% of the U.S. population based on which study you look at. The fact not all are white? I mean 60% of the population on the planet is asian fol...

I think the people who are upset by this stuff fall into two camps, the ones you described who just feel uncomfortable when they don't get the straight white men in games 90% of the time, and the ones who legitimately feel some things are just shoehorned in to push popularity or sales. Which kinda cheapens whatever group it is to just a marketing ploy.

But nah, Master Chief as a non-binary pansexual who is into furry stuff would be even funnier lol

well tranny do exist and they really seem to want to push representation. which is good I guess, but hopefully it's not some stereotyped character.

Yeah, it is kinda weird. On the one hand she shows almost no symptoms which TYPICALLY aren't as recognized in women so there is that, but at the same time the comics show her as a kind of single minded, structure and order obsessed person who doesn't interact with people well so it is kinda another negative stereotype.

I don't agree with you calling it a mental impairment though, that term is mostly reserved for what used to be called mental retardation.

hey, that actually sounds fun to play. I don't care what the character looks like as long as the gameplay is solid
