Agreed, it didn't feel right. It should have been the other way around. I was pissed that Dante's portions were basically the same game that you played through as Nero, only backwards...then once you got to those stairs of tribulation I basically said "you mean I have to play through this same thing a third time??????"

I believe you're right, and that I actually used the word "port" when it's not technically one.
I meant more that it's better for a company to build the game for one system so it can be the best it can be, then rebuild it for another platform if they decide to send it multiplatform. This assures the quality of the title is built around the specs of the system and allows more time for production.

Should also point out that I love Dante more than Nero as a character, I just like the way Nero actually played better. Put the devil arm on Dante and you can get rid of Nero asap.
