I don't see any way possible for Sony to sell 16 million PS4 consoles in it's first year of launch.

1.) Price Point. Even if the console launches at $299.00 which I don't believe for a second that is a lot of consoles to sell in a year for a new product.

2.) Demand. Who is going to rush out and buy the PS4 in the first year besides those of us, myself included that like to jump right in to the next generation of gaming? The 360 and PS3 aren't ...

Not just the PHAT's. My PS3 Slim 120GB got YLOD twice. Thankfully I got it covered under the original 1 year warranty and it hasn't happened since.

The PS3 will do just fine when the PS4 launches. By the end of this year the PS3 install base will be over 80 million. There will be plenty of first/3rd party support this year and at least the next couple of years as it takes a few years for the user install base to transition from one console to the next. Not to mention a probable price drop to $199.00 and Sony's history of supporting their older consoles when new consoles launch.

This site is pure entertainemnt to me. I can't help but laugh at everybody that has automatically assumed that Microsoft's next console will be underpowered in comparison to the PS4 because of some rumored specs being leaked. Or how those same people assume that Microsoft is releasing a casual gamer focused multimedia device and won't have any games for the so-called "core" gamer.

How about we all just wait till the facts are revealed at Microsoft's ...

After watching Sony's conference and doing my research on the specs of the PS4, I am very interested. It really sounds like they have finally made a developer friendly console and having 8GB or RAM should make a big difference vs the original rumored 4GB of RAM. Curious to see how thier online service has improved too. And this is coming from somebody who preferred the 360 over the PS3.

Now that being said. I also understand that I am a videogame enthusiast and therefore ...

Who said anything about perfect? The 360 GUI interface is constantly evolving and improving. What has their competition done during the same time period?

Out of everything in my original comment you decided to take offense to me saying that owners of the 360 prefer XBL and GUI interface. Then said nothing of value to dispute my opinion.

Again. The 360 established itself in the US before the PS3 or Wii. That was the biggest reason I got a 360 4 months after it launched instead of waiting for the PS3.

It's because of the reasons I listed that the 360 became so popular in the US. And the reason the 360 continues to lead every month in US sales for home consoles.

The controller, XBL, and Halo/Gears are the reasons I prefer my 360 to my PS3. But I'm not blinded by some loyalty to any part...

The 360 launched a year earlier than the PS3 and Wii.

The 360 has always had a competitive price since it launched.

The 360 controller is preferred for shooters and racing.

XBL and the GUI interface are more attractive and easier to use.

The 360 exclusives are marketed better and are more desirable to users in the US.

It did fail. Sony had to drop the price 9 months after launch on the 60GB launch PS3 and offer 5 "free" Blu-Ray movies because the sales were so slow.

I should know. I upgraded to a 1080P LCD and bought the PS3 60GB launch model when it was $499.00 instead of $599.00 and I still felt like I was Playing Beyond too soon.

In fact the only reason I got the PS3 was for Blu-Ray. Then once WarHawk came out I finally purchased my first game. The PS3 didn...

My comment about game attach ratio was in response to Sony Fanboys such as yourself that claim that the only reason 360 sales are so high is because of all the RROD replacements that 360 owners supposedly purchased.

If there are so many duplicate consoles purchased then why does the 360 have such a high game attach ratio? Could it possibly be because the 360 has the most active owners of the 3 consoles from this generation? Kind of hard to accomplish if so much of their insta...

One word answer: JAPAN.

The fact that the PS3 is STILL relevant in Japan and the 360 NEVER was relevent made that year head start disappear.

If Microsoft doesn't fix that problem with their next console then we can all expect a repeat in performance no matter how big the head start...

4K is a long ways off from becoming relevant. Allow me to explain.

1.) High end PC's can't run games optimized at 4K resolution. What makes anybody think a console can achieve anywhere near this type of performance.

2.) 4K HDTV's are priced starting at $20,000 and above. Seeing as how ther is NO demand for 4K HDTV's then I don;t see the price coming down significantly any time soon.

3.) Currently there is little to no 4K media...

Can we subtract all the YLOD PS3's too? I had 2 PS3's YLOD on me. One in warranty and One not in warranty. With e-mails to Sony to prove it.

Last time I checked the 360 had the highest game attach ratio of all 3 consoles this generation. So your attempt to downplay the LTD sales of the 360 fell short.

A sale is a sale regardless of reason. How many people are "multiple" owners of PS3's or 360's? I know I have purchased 3ea PS3's...

I meant total lifetime sales BlindGuardian. That is what the fanboys fight about right? It doesn't take a genius to see that the PS3 outsold the 360 by an average of 1.3 million a year since it was launched.

I figured the PS3 would eventually overtake the 360 because the 360 has virtually no presence in Japan and the PS3 is more popular in Europe.

But the fact that the 360 was even able to sell as many consoles as they did, overtake the US marketplace, an...

I thought sales didn't matter??? Anyways... If the rumors are true that the PS3 finally out shipped the 360 after 6 1/4 years. Then congrats to Sony. Reading all these comments makes me laugh. It's so late in the generation that none of this even matters.

Microsoft overcame RROD and gained marketshare. Not to mention they are the leaders in North America and certain territories like the UK. Sony overcame a poor launch because of an overpriced console, difficulty in d...

I laugh at anybody that believes any of these companies have gamers best "interests" in mind. If Valva got in to the hardware business it would be so they could gain some control over the market in order to make MONEY.

That is all these companies care about. Not you, not me, not us. They only care about their bottom line...

They both sell to consumers that like to game on the go. How are they not competitors? If you think the 3DS does not have so-called "hardcore" games then you need to go look again.

How are they different ENTIRELY???

Look at 1st party game sales for the PS3 in comparison to 3rd party game sales. HUGE gap. Both Microsoft and Sony rely on 3rd pary games sales more than 1st party games sales.

Nintendo is the only company that relies on and thrives off 1st party game sales. Even Nintendo is trying hard to get more 3rd party software support with the 3DS and WiiU. Because they know the majority of game sales come from those developers.

So many people on N4G are out of touch with reality. The problem with the Vita isn't the price or hardware. It's the lack of DEMAND. Playing console quality games on a handheld gaming console isn't something the masses are interested in anymore.

The reason why is the types of games that people want to play on the go are the types that you find on smart phones, IPod touches, and tablets. The exception being the 3DS just because Nintendo tends to make games that hav...

Your comment is way off base Snea. This article had nothing to do with a sales war between the 360 and PS3. It had to do with traditional controls vs Motion Controls.

Yet somehow you keep bringing up the power of the Playstation brand as if Sony won something this generation.

Seeing as how your account was created 19 days ago and your comments history seems to point towards a certain agenda it doesn't make sense to argue with you. Reading comprehension is...
