If you dont have a HDTV, then the DVD should still have about 6 months, MAXIMUM 1 year left in it before almost every game requires atleast 2 DVDs, however if you are with the increasing band of people who own a HDTV, and intend to use a lot of HD content, then a HDDVD will be required (At which at a double layer will be surpassed to needing 2 HDDVDs within 1 Year, 2 Years MAXIMUM.)

You dont need a 1080p HDTV to appreciate next gen.
720p HDTVs are rather cheap ATM and will give you a very large increase in visual 'bang for your buck'.
I have a 1080i TV, and although its a pity I cant run 1080p, I dont look back, since the difference between 1080i and 1080p is, like in a previous post stated by me, possible to point out, but nether the less, minimal.
