@AndreR Open world would be a terrible direction for the series, the whole "go anywhere and climb everything" gimmick quickly loses its charm when you realise you've traded a uniquely hand crafted experience over fields of nothingness to pad out the world. Persona 5's dungeon design trumps Persona 3's Tartarus and Persona 4's shadow world, and it's the right step in the series.

I will be one of the first to tell you Persona 5's story isn...

I am honestly inclined to agree with this review to an extent. Xenoblade 2 is given a large amount of slack. Although 5.3 is rather strict, I would have given this a 7.

The combat is rather dull, which is built from the ground up as no movement, waiting. Although later in the game, with upgrades you can reduce the wait on cooldowns and swap between weapons it still starts slowly and feels clunky at the core.

Sidequests are little more than boring and ofte...

Unfortunately you've got that completely wrong, as someone who is very dissatisfied with the modern Xeno series the worldbuilding is the one thing that Monolith excel in.

I believe the combat is rather dull, the sidequests are tedious, the voice acting is atrocious and the graphics/framerate can really get poor at times. But on no account would I ever say that Xenoblade 2 has poor worldbuilding, the lands are beautifully imagined and crafted experiences.

You don't need to play the originals to get into the Xenoblade 2, no. Though that being said the combat and quest structures will honestly be quite a shock if you're not already accustom to it.

I would honestly watch gameplay in person and attempt to get a hands on before buying. The system isn't for everyone at all, and it's very disconnected to the player.... Most of the combat is stood completely still not touching through controller while your character ...

I came from an era where you'd purchase a game and be given the full experience. If the game offered cosmetics, they'd be in there to unlock or purchase with the in-game currency. If it didn't, it didn't.
Sure, there wasn't many of the quality of life features we enjoy today. But it was an era where gaming was still to an extent a hobbyist activity and if you wanted to make a game sell you'd have to make a good and interesting game, that's all there was to...

If the games industry goes 100% digital, will we the consumers, be passed on the savings that are made through cheaper production and distribution costs?
A part of me thinks not.

Why would you own an Xbox if you own a PC? Thanks to the play anywhere initiative you can play any game coming out on the Xbox, all while enjoying free online.

PC is also a platform, like it or not.
Therefore if a game is available on a PC and a console it's not "exclusive", it's multiplatform.

Even if you buy the game and ignore the loot crates, you're still supporting the game and its practice. You increase its ranking in charts for further advertisement, advertise to your friends list that you're playing the game, and contribute to a large community for better matchmaking times. This in turn encourages other people to buy the game, people who may buy loot boxes.

Furthermore in terms of gameplay Battlefront 2 is a massive step down from the original. If ...

As someone who used to own an Xbox One, and currently owns a Nintendo Switch, and had played FFXIV from 1.0 through to Stormblood i'm saying no thank you.

1.0 to ARR was a massive downgrade. They had fixed many of the games faults, but also downgraded it graphically and mechanically in order to accommodate console support. Any time something that was requested was asked, the response was too often "PS3 limitations" to the point where it became a popular meme b...

"The Xbox One X is a beautiful piece of kit, elegant and instantly desirable the first time you lay your eyes on it"
I find the Xbox One range to be ugly, bloated messes with external power supplies and take up too much space on my desk. My PS4 is tucked neatly to the side of my monitor and my Switch is docked neatly next to it.
I struggled to get the Xbox One onto my desk, and I spend half the time wondering why something so big needed an external power supply. Gr...

I agree with the argument that a game released in a previous year should still be considered a contender for following years. A game does not stop becoming a game when it's a year old, and all the more reason to consider it if more content is introduced. The title is not "best game released in 2017" but simply "game of the year".

However, with that being said Overwatch does not deserve to be on GOTY 2017's lists even with these arguments. Althoug...

The thing is, these titles are already available on the original Xbox One, Xbox One S, PS4, PS4 Pro and PC. Multiplatform games are nice, but you're rarely going to find someone this late into the generation that doesn't own either an Xbone One or a PS4 by this point.

There is little reason to pay quite a large sum just to play the games you can already play on your existing systems, just slightly prettier. A PS4 owner can play everything an Xbox One X owner can pla...

They don't belong anywhere, we've been lied to. Spiderman Homecoming cost $175 million to make and that's exclusive of marketing costs.
MGSV, one of the most expensive videogames of all time, cost $80 million to make and that's inclusive of marketing costs.

I understand that films have a larger audience, but when your content costs four-five times as much as a film on DVD at a base model (given tiered versions exist) then you should be easily able t...

How about developers and publishers stop bloating their budgets, including horrendously expensive and useless things such as celebrity voice acting and superbowl ads and release a full product that isn't cut into pieces designed to milk the everliving daylight out of our wallets.

Some of us want to buy a game from a shelf for £50 and get the game. No strings attached, no cut content reserved for a season pass, or pre-order bonuses, or microtransaction DLC, or gambl...

What they mean is that there was no recorded instance of anyone fighting it until this point. There may have been people who have battled it, but to the general Bloodborne community at large this wasn't something they thought was in the game.

I'd rather have that. The ESRB is funded by game publishers, this is why when there's questionable business practices they'll always take their side.

At least if governments step in then they may have the guts to call a horse a horse.

If games can no longer afford to sustain themselves at a higher price than they were several years ago, with only a fraction of the content that games used to have the obvious solution is to be more reasonable with your budget.

I'm not paying an additional £10-£20 on mediocre annual cash grabs that use the same engine and assets, just so they can put in another advert in the superbowl.
