Most people didn't want a Vita because Sony did a bad job supporting (after the first 2 years) and advertising the platform. I was a big Vita supporter and I could enjoy some of the great perks people are now meeting with the Switch (namely: portable crisp widescreen visuals, suspend/resume and excellent stand-by features, among other stuff), but Sony also did a lot of crucial mistakes that Nintendo avoided. The following things are different on the Switch, and make a ton of difference in...
The only thing that gets me confused about this news is: why did it take so many years for people to start challenging FIFA's engine and AI? FIFA's AI has been broken since the PS3/360 days!
Tell you something: I've played many more hours of FIFA 09 to 14 that I would want to admit, and this has always been a game with two facets: at its best, it was a fantastic multiplayer game, rivaling or even surpassing PES 5/6 multiplayers thrills; at its worst, when you p...
I did. As someone who gravitates between the two series, this year is almost a seal deal in favor of PES (unless EA comes with a even more impressive FIFA build when the demo rolls out). PES beta, even with some minor bugs to iron out, was the best digital football experience I've played in the last 10 years. An anecdotal extra: a friend of mine (also a seasoned football games player), who has been an harsh critic on PES ever since the PS3 gen jump, was heavily impressed with what he saw ...
There's not even a "4K revolution" to begin with...
These authors/bloggers love to draw parallels between the past and the present. As if the 4K upgrade is anything compared to the HD revolution! That one truly deserved to be called as a revolution: TVs had been stuck at 480p or less for a long time, they had a drastically different screen tech (CRT vs LCD) and the image ratio was also quite different (4:3 compared to HDTV's 16:9). Even then – when the jum...
Breath of the Wild.
Well, we didn't have a numbered Windows from 4 to 6 either. Or Mario Kart, from 2 to 6...
I still think they're going with 'Xbox 4K' or just 'Xbox', but I don't see what's so mind boggling about this article's theory. If anything, I don't think the author defended it well enough, as there's a clear case for the name "Xbox 4", from a marketing standpoint. The arguments:
- We can assume that PS5 will pro...
//removed (duplicate comment)
I see at least 5 games that say otherwise:
- The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ (Rebirth was one of the best and most notable PS Plus titles on the Vita)
- I Am Setsuna (Vita version never made it to the West, allegedly because of long loading times)
- Disgaea 5: Complete Edition (Vita got the definitive editions of Disgaea 3 and 4, but 5 was too demanding for the hardware, according to the devs)
- Puyo Puyo Tetris (another Vita game that never made...
Thanks for your clarity! It becomes way easier to understand the Switch concept if you think about laptops and desktops, as you said. It's not that most hardcore gamers don't play more often on desktops rather than laptops – hardcore (PC) gamers do pick up a custom made desktop PC as their favourite setup for gaming. However, Nintendo is betting on the majority of gamers not needing more than PS3/360 quality of graphics and they opted to invest on mobility instead of power.

Same here! The things I like the most about my Vita are indie and japanese games: in both regards, it seems like the Switch is going to end up carrying Vita's torch into the future (plus Nintendo first party offers!). We're already seeing the announcement of some indie and japanese games that Vita couldn't get but are completely in line with the platform output until now:
- The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ (devs tried, but Vita could only get Rebirth... still one of the ...
So, you'd rather see this game on 3DS, which already has the likes of Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, instead of Vita which is completely lacking on this genre and has a much bigger attach rate of digital software sales?
I hope the dev doesn't follow your logic... :)
As long as I turn my Vita on and find new games on PSN, it can surely be argued that Vita isn't truly dead. The rest is media hyperbole and clickbait journalism...
Just this month alone, Vita owners got Volume and Oddworld New & Tasty, two very well received games that achieved a score of 8.5-9 out of 10 each, on average.
Not even a good troll.
Plus a couple of Western games that the list is shockingly missing:
Severed
YIIK
Salt and Sanctuary
Darkest Dungeon
Hyper Light Drifter
And you could count Volume and Axiom Verge too (they didn't release in 2015, after all).
Just out of curiosity... do you play Hearthstone on your iPad? I'm asking because I also have this pair (Vita and iPad2) and Hearthstone runs pretty poorly there (my gf has an iPad Mini 2 and it works like a charm), so I was wondering if you thinking about buying a new tablet could have anything to do with it... :)
Some odd inclusions (PSA, Sound Shapes and SSD aren't very common in a list made in 2015) but, most importantly, there are a handful of undisputed titles missing, such as:
- The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
- Rayman Origins/Legends
- Guacamelee
- Tearaway
- Hotline Miami
- VLR
- Spelunky
And more recently:
- Shovel Knight
- Olli Olli 2
- Super Meat Boy
Still, ku...
It's actually the opposite: Vita is one of the game consoles with more games announced into the future.
Don't believe it? See for yourself: http://www.neogaf.com/forum...
The fact that most people don't have a clue about this speaks volumes about Sony's marketing strategy and gaming journalists' willingness to research anything beyond these old (and tired)...
Not to mention all the indie games it keeps getting, even if the press insists in looking only to the bad things happening with the platform.
Just in this year alone we've got Hotline Miami 2, OlliOlli 2, Super Meat Boy, Shovel Knight, Geometry Wars 3...
A lot of people underestimate Vita's indie games, and tend to overlook one of the best curated catalogs available on any platform. They probably don't realise it because Vita has become a digital ...
That's also a very plausible route.
I wonder if the key lies in marketing it as a "super" Dualshock4... Kinect was proof that you can sell millions of units of an accessory if the base console has a big and/or growing userbase. Make it the ultimate PS4 companion.
I know they're kind of investing in Morpheus for this companion role I'm describing, but I believe a Dualshock/Vita hybrid would be more interesting for players. Who knows? :) ...
I agree that Nintendo has to pay close attention to streaming. Depending on how they play their hand, it can either be a potent threat against the value proposition of the Switch (play meaty games anywhere), or it can be the opposite and end up being Switch's final trump card.
I don't need to explain to you how it is a threat – that is the point of view you already brought to the conversation. On the other way, I think it needs to be reminded that streaming can ulti...
