It's great for consumers who want to play everything of course. But GPU costs £180 a year which is pretty much 3 brand new games owned outright, which is what most casual consumers want from their console... it doesn't make sense to many in the market, which is why subs are not increasing despite some incredible titles on the service.

Fact remains, for those with money to spare, or a strong desire to have the best console performance, the PS5 pro is unquestionably the best place to experience most games on console.

I couldn't agree more. It's so much deeper than ' place the rooms to get to the end one' . I'm 26 hours in and it gets in your head. Gamers with the attention span of a bluebottle - it's not for you, just walk on past.

Don't give a stuff about multiplayer, these are and always were great single player/ couch co op games and well worth the investment.
I bought it on steam, and have played it via Game Pass (and still can), but PS is my fave and I wont miss a chance to play it again on my fave platform , hopefully with decent haptics and with any luck a pro mode that helps with geometry 'pop in'. Great game, and given there's barely a similar title on the platform, its no surprise its selling already..
Why would that be a surprise? They have twice the number of studios and are a multiplat dev, you'd expect them to have more titles than PS.

Weren't prices last year before the increases? If that's the case then subs actually went down and the 2% comes from the increased prices...
Bought a pro and love it. I see very clear improvements - and I still have an OG PS5 with its own oled in the same room, so its easy to compare.
If you don't see it, save your money. If you do appreciate what it does, then maybe consider it? It was never a console to appeal to all and the first sales data I read suggested it was selling faster than predictions?
Agreed. I kept waiting for it to get really bad, but it just didn't happen and I had a great time. I would not give it a perfect score, but 8.5 or 9 would reflect my experience with it. People who disliked the experience are welcome to an alternate view of course, but all the keyboard warriors who simply attack without any real experience of the game deserve to be ignored - about anything.
Totally agree with this article. I've played games since space invaders hit the arcades when I was in my late teens. Always been mad for it and I worked two decades as a AAA dev. I've never had a bigger backlog and have played many games I consider to be exceptional this year.

I liked Wukong, but I'm almost embarrassed to admit that. What a shower of pathetic sore losers. Astrobot was very clearly game of the year, and the 100 outlets from 30 countries who voted for the award made the correct choice.
I really liked it. Going in with low expectations, I was surprised to find a game I enjoyed. Traversal is a blast and I thought the combat was fun. The writing was a bit cringe in places, but I play games, it's a rare thing to get great writing and it didn't spoil it for me. I think plenty people will have more fun than they expect once they can try for free...but you need to get a couple of hours into it. If you can make it through that fud, your good!
