I really miss great platformers. If its not Mario or Banjoe Kazooie, I haven't had much to like this generation. Really looking forward to this one.
This title could really end up changing the way we play sports games from this point forward. I'm really excited about the hint that NaturalMotion could have plans to work on other sports games with Euphoria. Imagine what they could do with Hockey, Soccer, Baseball etc.
While this expansion is absurdly exciting, I am a bit sad to find out that it will not really be included the careers already present in the game. As a former athlete, I really want to head out onto the field in The Sims. Even being able to make decisions on my Sims' personality around media and fans would be great.
The biggest drawback to all of this licensing stuff is the lack of variety in sports games. It used to be that you would have a super sim, a laid back sim, arcade game with some realism, and a complete arcade entry. Now you get no competition, and as such no real variety. Sure, games the like the Bigs help a little, but it just isn't enough.
I agree that numerical ratings can be very misleading, but I usually will read at least parts of a review for any game that I may be interested in.
I think Natal could be in a bit of trouble in the overall scheme as the 360 is beginning to show its age, while the PS3 is starting to come into its own. It also doesn't help that most 1st party 360 games also come to the PC with better production values at this point. That doesn't prevent Natal from doing well, but I think people may grow tired of the 360's limitations, and not bother with Natal.
I really think that sports games could get the most out of integrating story and gameplay. There are so many times when the game feels devoid of personality because their is nothing separating teams and players from one another besides numbers and the colors on the jersey.
I agree with Letros in the logic that you are better off spending a little bit more for the best companies. When you are investing so much of your time and energy into something, it really isn't worth the risk of dealing with budget hardware.
I just built my first computer last May, and since then I've been hooked. It was much easier than I thought it would be. All it took was a little bit of research and some patience. In the end, I couldn't have been happier with what I have.
Yes, the PC has a few areas that it holds a monopoly over, but if you look at the past couple of years you'll notice that it has been getting royally shafted in many ways. For a while there, it was looking like PC gaming would be relegated to just a few genres. Think about it, the PC has been more powerful than either current gen console since they came out, but still receives substandard ports on many occasions. This is especially the case with sports games. The PC doesn't even get Madden an...
While the average adolescent is not going to think that it is okay to run around blowing things up, do we really want to be giving children the idea that massive amounts of violence is fun? A lot can be gained from violent games, or any mature game for that matter, if that content is designed to communicate some kind of larger theme about life.
Grand Theft Auto 4, for example, had tons of sex and violence, but did it is a way that was designed to show how far people are willing t...
People were being burnt at the stake as heretics for even reading the wrong books back in the day. I'd tend to call that serious. But still, it is a bit crazy that some countries are actually putting people in jail over violent video games for sentences that are sometimes worse than, you know, actually behaving violently.
It's interesting to me that video games are now going through some of the same censorship issues that books went through in the 1600's. Shouldn't we be farther along by now?
My favorite on this list has to be the supernatural one. While I'd be really disappointed if University doesn't get a remake, I really think that supernatural has a ton of potential to improve the game. I also think it would be really fun to have the create a sim sliders opened up completely by the officials at EA in order to create without boundaries.
I can't wait to see how this game turns out. I'm a big HP fan, but have been perpetually disappointed by the games up to this point. This series has so much game potential that it is sad to see it go to waste. I can't wait until they start going beyond the plot of the movies, but still in the world of Harry Potter for new games like Lucas Arts did with KOTOR. Going outside of the usual movie plot is usually the best way to make a movie based game good.
I really can't wait to play Superstar Mode now that the play calling should be better. I got so tired of running the same group of plays every game in last year's Madden.
