Hmm you have some valid points Although I remember reading somewhere that they would leave it up to publishers and 3rd parties if they wanted to then they could but they wouldn't necessarily do it on the console/1st party (it was from a credible source Google it). Also I just wouldn't make sense for them to do it as their whole approach this Gen has been so pro-gamer then for them turn around and do anti consumer policies cause they couldn't afford to lose that appeal/audience but...
I highly doubt they are for two reasons. Firstly being the massive if not historic backlash Microsoft has received by the game community and devs they wouldn't dare follow suit and secondly they aren't making online connection an a requirement so how would they implement it ?
