Thanks Pal, but I know that.
Bethesda claimed they were waiting on Sony to allow crossplay with the other consoles, in an all-or-nothing approach to cross-play. Have Sony allowed it now, or are they still using Fortnite to test it?
Link? I've not heard anything about it since it went into beta with Fortnite...
Erm... Sony don't support cross-play yet?
Last I heard Sony were running an open beta of crossplay for one single game.
Have I missed something?
There is a little game in early access at the moment that uses AWS cloud services pretty extensively. Hopefully Amazon's cloud services are as highly scalable as they claim, as I think this one could be big.
It's called Fortnite.
But a disc is DRM's ultimate form. You install the whole game to your hard drive, but you need that shiny round key to play it. That is stringent and effective management of digital rights.
You don't hate DRM, you just prefer the terms you get with a disc. I don't disagree with you,. I'm just being pedantic.
This argument is stupid and damaging. No games should require PSN or Gold to play multiplayer.
You're right, that does seem fair. On Xbox the party chat is all server-hosted, whereas on PlayStation it is peer 2 peer.
Battlefield multiplayer should be free on both (just like on PC) as EA host the servers for it.
So with your old career hat on, would you acknowledge that it is easier to open a network up than it is to properly secure it?
Come on.... you know it to be true! That's all I was getting at.
I'm gonna make every effort to be more polite as I acknowledge I was unnecessarily rude. The community here simply gets my back up. So... apologies. By the same token, you have assumed I am speaking from a platform of ignorance but I promise you that isn't close ...
I said nothing about each network accepting packets from the other. You are still demonstrating a fundamental lack of understanding of a server-client relationship. When Epic accidentally allowed Fortnite players to play together it wasn't by breaching Microsoft and Sony's firewalls lol.
As for ignoring back-end policy and security, no. I simply pointed out that it takes particular consideration to deny cross-play, and that there is "nothing to invent". I...
Too funny.
So after all of those walls of text, you've come to the conclusion that I was right. Well done!
"The technical logistics of making them communicate can be simple enough, but there is a lot more to this than the practical application of making it work. It's about the policies that need to be invoked before each company will even consider it. " - Literally all I said. Glad you finally caught up.
"Translator protocol" ha ha a stop it, you're killing me! I can't tell if you know you are full of shit, or if this is one for Dunning-Kruger....
They're already connecting to the 3rd party servers and consuming services, as are Microsoft. Cross-play is not a matter of further network configuration on their part.
You're so full of it. Bullshit will only carry you so far.
Nobody is talking about "merging networks". Cross-play in the manner that Psyonix and co are implementing is basic server-client networking, and nothing more. Really no more complicated than multiplatform Spotify or Netflix. So simple that Epic enabled it by accident on Fortnite.
I'm not saying Sony should allow cross-play, or that the policies around it are simple. Just poin...
Sony invented the internet, and the whole concept of server-client networking.
Aren't you tired of thinking independently? Join us! There is no suffering or pain here, only sweet sweet compliance. Don't fight it.
From the platform holder's perspective, it really is simpler to allow cross-play than to restrict it. There is nothing to invent.
Steps to enable cross-play:
1. Allow console to connect to the internet.
Steps to deny cross-play:
1. Allow console to connect to the internet.
2. Write policy to stipulate how that connection can be used, including consideration of legal implications.
3. Enforce policy at certification a...
Lol... what is there to invent?
It takes more effort to prevent cross-play than it does to allow it.
@Showtime Yes. Who said different?
@GT the biggest game in the world right is surely Fortnite by most metrics, and yes it is on mobile. I have no idea what point you are trying to make.
This isn't like Fortnite. This is a turn-based game, that you can play a bit on your PC or console while you're at home or at work, and continue the session on your phone when you're out and about. Unlike Fortnite (and Fallout 76 etc), the multi-platform element fundamentally changes the ways you can play it.
"You people" need to put your console warrior nonsense to one side, and embrace common sense.
This is a card game...
Her political agenda is pretty clear. She directly blames harsh economic conditions, basically pointing the finger at austerity and the Conservative party. Very much in-keeping with Labour party politics and messaging.
