This could be said for every console. Each one has their big draws and relies heavily on them. Halo was Microsoft's big game when the first console was released and it has a loyal following. As does Mario for Nintendo, and Uncharted for Sony.
This article just sounds like the author disregards any of Microsoft's other announcements as filler, because of the Halo 5 announcement.

The Alpha was great! But, I don't know what the deal was with the crucible. When I went in there I was getting killed the second anybody saw me. And when I caught people from behind and was shooting them, I still got killed after doing almost no damage. Even when using my powers.
That was my only issue with the game. Guess I wasn't upgraded enough.
This game can't come soon enough!

I can't speak for other stores, but iv'e cancelled preorders from Best Buy and Amazon with no problem. And they don't bill you for the game until its about to ship.
That's ok with me. I know a lot of people bashed Dead Island ,but I had fun with it. This looks pretty good.
Although it's unpolished and an Alpha, I have to say there are few bugs. It is pretty good. Had a couple instances of enemies disappearing, but no deal breakers. No lag or choppiness.
How did you get a battlefield code? Where are they giving those?
Got mine. The graphics are pretty good for an alpha. The gameplay seems a little repetitive at this point, but I don't really know what i'm doing yet. There are no directions yet. It's pretty much jump in and follow the waypoint and goal. Pretty fun though.

I have a feeling this is going to end up like the beta for titanfall. There was a frenzy to get codes, then they started dribbling out codes on twitter. Then it was open to everybody. Pretty smart to hype things that way. I'm hoping this is the case. I still didn't get a code for the PS4 alpha, crossing fingers.
Had a great time playing this game. BUT it was so big, so involved, and time consuming that I don't see myself doing it again. The difference in graphics is nice, but i'm moving on to other things. I can understand current gen upgrading and cashing in on older gen games. But IMO, I think it is better with older games, not games that finished out the last gen.

Timed exclusive content a year later? Why even bother? Destiny looks like it will have staying power, but by a year later there will obviously be loads of DLC and probably a new release. Xbox gets COD DLC earlier than Sony, but that's by a couple of months at most.
I signed up for both Betas (If they allow that) but I'll probably get this on PS4, but if this is true, it is a major FU to Xbox users.
