Target has really been stepping up their game deals lately!
Surprising impressions! Wouldn't have expected much from this game.
Yeah, the game NEEDS to have the cinematic, static camera angles. Ideally there would be an option for the over-the-shoulder camera too, for those who absolutely have to use it... but the game can't be changed too drastically.
Giving it RE4's gameplay mechanics (let alone RE6's) would absolutely break RE2, because traditional zombies can't be threats in that kind of game. They would either have to make headshots useless, or dramatically increase the number ...
So backtracking on a previous knee-jerk reaction, pointing out why RE7 will very likely be good, and explaining why the series is still fine even if RE7 DOES suck... is somehow whining?
You know what, I'm going to assume you didn't read it. And thanks for the laugh! "and don't do much information not worth reading." is one of the funniest bits of gibberish I've seen in a while.
Always thought about trying out one of these games, that's a good deal
Gahh, gotta get the money to buy this one!
Capcom isn't done yet, I believe they've got 4 more previews like this to release.
Probably can't buy this at launch, but I'm looking forward to it for sure!
Ah, The Evil Within! Yeah, I'm DYING for a sequel.
It was initially disappointing because I didn't expect it to be that action-heavy, and it played a bit like a RE4 remake (a village with a chainsaw maniac, big ogres, that kind of thing). The Kidman DLC was AMAZING though, giving me exactly what I wanted. It also prompted me to replay the main game, which was SO MUCH better the second time around. The nods to RE (like the first enemy's shoulder glance) were fun...
Yeah. I mean, I know there's a fine line between showing enough to generate interest, and showing way too much before release. This recent influx of teaser videos is taking things in a great direction, showing fans that certain aspects they want ARE in the game, even if they're keeping specifics hidden.
I just want to know if there will be basic enemies to fight (zombies, dogs, that kind of thing) or if we'll be fending off the invincible Bakers the entire time...
I hear ya. The way RE7 looks, it would have been an amazing Resident Evil spin-off game. Almost like an evolution of what Survivor was. It looks more like something Capcom would release to tide us over until the real seventh entry was released. No matter how good it is, I'll be at least somewhat disappointed that it had to be so different from the best of the main games. I kept waiting for the series to go back to basics, but now it's been taken in this direction.
...
I shared your thoughts until fairly recently. At the very least we know it isn't a complete walking simulator, because there ARE weapons to use and supposedly the game also won't rely on hiding in lockers.
As for the saves, agreed. I enjoyed Alien: Isolation so much because of how punishing it was in this regard, with save stations placed pretty far apart. It made things INTENSE when you made a lot of progress, but hadn't saved in a long time -- and suddenly the...
That would be nice, huh.
Capcom seems to be banking on word of mouth/intense internet scrutiny. Just look at reddit, people are going NUTS speculating about the voices on the phone, characters, and theories about connections to other games. Even people who haven't played RE before! It's weird.
Nice! Superhot does look pretty interesting, will have to check it out.
Great read! It's an interesting time for the industry.
Ooh, I see a few things I'm gonna have to pick up...
I would definitely be more excited if it wasn't titled Resident Evil... or if it was at least a side game, maybe titled RE VR. The first-person perspective is just a bit off-putting, and the fact that Capcom is being so cryptic about the game's full set of gameplay mechanics isn't helping either.
Agreed. I won't have PS VR, which seems like the driving point for this game. Not gonna give it a shot until reviews come in.
Is Cyber Sleuth really that good? Been meaning to buy it, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Agreed, Erik. Pre Rec can be overly sarcastic sometimes, but their videos are usually entertaining at the very least.
