The game crashed multiple times and corrupted numerous save files for him. How exactly does that translate into a 'personal vendetta'?
Updates may come if the game is fixed, but the score will stand. EA made the choice to release a game that was broken so they will need to live with the score they were given.
Read the review. It all becomes clear.
They're charging real dollars for the game, so they're getting a real review.
All time? It's hard to beat the SNES, although I did enjoy my PS2 a lot.

I'll admit that after the first couple of weeks it can be a grind, but there's something magical about the first snowfall or being cozy while it's blizzarding outside.
