"CallofDutyfan" never "said" the game was uninspired; he or she merely submitted the article with a quote from Tom Sykes. You appear to be taking that out on the wrong person in an attempt to discredit their opinion. You would have a potential point if CallOfDutyFan's submissions were all or mostly from PC Gamer, as it would imply a connection between article author and submitter, but his or her source portfolio is quite diverse.

I would believe it based on how long it's been in development, the game's scope, and since Square-Enix has funded rather costly titles like the recent Tomb Raider. I'll be more interested in seeing if it can actually make money based on the current reputation of the series and how many sales Tomb Raider needed just to break even.

@Hicken
Your objection is a philosophical one. Personal standards are being applied to a poll intended to scope out a particular audience: people who play video games. In order to achieve that goal, making the distinction between the casual and more involved is actually actively counterproductive.

To reiterate, I will use your example. This would not be a poll aimed at discovering the amount of elite drivers but the overall number of drivers by gender and, less so, th...

While the accuracy can indeed be called into questioned (especially considering the relatively small sample size compared to the total population of over 22 million), the survey was clearly not about gaming tendencies. A "gamer", as per the dictionary definition, is one who plays games or even one single game; contrary to popular belief, the term is not synonymous with "game enthusiast". Were one to conduct an accurate survey about how many females actively play a variety ...

Conversely, Sega has been taking some risks with games like Hatsune Miku Project DIVA f (released globally, I might add) and Rhythm Thief, no?

"True gamer"? Gamer, by definition, has become a general term applicable to people that interact with games. The term in common usage is as broad as "reader" and "viewer".

Your definition of what constitutes a "true" gamer may suit your personal interests more efficiently but is simultaneously arbitrary and irrelevant in common use. A term that is more apt for what your are describing might be along the lines of "hardcore gamer&quo...

Steel Diver is the only that immediately comes to mind in the retail department.

If we're counting download-only games I can think of a few:
Harmo Knight
Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive! (became a retail title after the release of the first game so it could be categorized either way really)
Pushmo
Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword
Dillon's Rolling Western

Pikmin 3 did indeed provide a boost to the console's sales, but its effects are negligible in any term longer than July and August. The second week saw a decline of nearly 8000 sales which, considering no post-Pikmin week surpassed even 25,000 sales, is a major portion of the overall gain the title provided. Each week following this saw a steady decline with the final week just 39 units shy of being another four digit number that we started with. Were this a line graph for any remotely si...

This is very clearly a mock-up that Walmart put there as a placeholder, or unintentionally (under the impression it was real). If the misplaced ESRB rating (that should be "RP" not "E" as of yet), sloppily made subtitle logo, usage of the original DS box art with a discolored "3" slapped on, and Wi-Fi connection logo instead of Nintendo Network weren't sufficient indicators, there's the fact that the game has been titled Animal Crossing Jump Out (at least...

What does age have to do with anything? In a scenario where you go to GameStop to trade in your games, you need to have ID on you that proves you're 18 or older. Otherwise, you can't trade anything.

If your point is that GameStop is better for 11 year old kids, that isn't the case since it relies on adult supervision for any transaction to occur. It's equally possible for a parent to negotiate a Craigslist meeting rather than the child. Adults are present in b...

Maybe the idea is to get the news out in a way that every publication will be covering. Announcing something like Wii Fit at E3 won't directly allow casuals to see it, but it puts the announcement on a pedestal thus making it seem more noteworthy than a nonchalant press release and some screenshots. When mainstream journalists (the ones who cover things beyond video games) release the news in a publicly accessible form, it will resonate with the casuals there.

Of course, ...

To be fair, there was over a month of warning that a price and release date wouldn't be revealed at E3:

Neither, really. While the article offers an accurate up-to-date conversion from yen to dollars, that's very rarely the actual retail price. The Japanese currency has seen better days.

Look up the price of buying a Japanese console and you'll see even with the hidden import fees and all that, it's still significantly more expensive than the equivalent local console. 30,000 yen is more like $300 - $350 tops.

I would expect the Euro conversion to b...

The Wii's Classic Controller doesn't have clickable thumbsticks and there's a chance this Pro controller may have gyro control. It wouldn't necessarily work for every game.

The Classic Controller also needs the Wii Remote to function at all, since it is not a stand alone wireless controller. That's the difference between handing three controllers to three of your friends to play a local multiplayer game and handing _six_ controllers to three people.

I'm not sure where you got those numbers from, but some are wrong and several include dubious re-releases. For example, Fire Emblem has 14 titles including obscure stuff like the BS Satellaview game.

Officially, there are two Pikmin games and two re-releases. That's still not five, unless you are counting an unreleased game.

The inflated "Mario" category is composed of numerous sub-franchises with completely different gam...

He can't - he has one bubble and it's too late to edit the post.

That said, gaming is already very digital. The majority of PC games are digital, cell phone and tablet games are digital, and each console and handheld has its own online store (in the 360/PS3/PSP/Vita's case, containing retail games on it as well). Game manuals are being abandoned in favor of being included on the cartridge or disk (see Madden, every Vita game, Super Mario 3D Land, etc.). Even many ...

The list is called "Six reasons..." rather than "Top Six Reasons...". Never in the article does the author reference a hierarchy of the value of each individual item on the list. Were this the case, it is likely he would have also counted down from six instead of starting at number one.

Think of it as a grocery list rather than a ranking.
