If you're talking about Call of Duty, I agree with you. However, there is a world of gaming outside of the annual AAA releases (and some of the AAA releases are deservedly praised, such as GTA5 and The Last of Us).
For example, just last year, I played one of the best stories I've ever seen in a game in Dangonronpa. And I had a blast digging my way through Steamworld Dig. And while the new Mario Kart is nothing new, I can't stop playing it with my kids.
...
Gotcha. Thanks! :)
Not to sound dumb, but what exactly is pre-loading games? Is that when you pre-order it digitally, and it loads/installs automatically at midnight on release?
Thanks for the review. I was wondering about this game. That kind of sucks about the load times. I don't get it when the games are 100% on the hard drive, yet take forever to load. What's the point in installing the game if the load times are going to take a full minute? This isn't just a problem with this game, but many next-gen games on both next-gen consoles.
I personally agree with you, Alex. I wouldn't have Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed touching my top games. But when you think about this past gen, it will be hard to do without thinking of those 2 titles.
If I had to pick 5 that defined this generation, they'd be Mass Effect, Uncharted, Mario Galaxy, Gears of War, and Red Dead.
New tech is new tech. Fanboys will make excuses no matter what, however. And pile up the "disagrees"
While I didn't love Assassin's Creed, I can see why it was picked to define the generation. It was a huge title that just kept growing. Like some other people here, I'd also agree with Call of Duty, especially MW.
Mass Effect is a good one. I wouldn't include games from previous generations, personally (such as Halo), as it's hard for a sequel (unless it's really different or a huge leap forward, like Bioshock over System Shock) to separate itself from...
No major console that launched over a year ago should sell a console that just recently came out. I think that's why there's some surprise that the WiiU outsold the Xbox One. I'm not trying to fan any flames - just think about the situation rationally.
I've got both, and neither one is awesome...yet.
For anyone wondering, there's exactly what the patch updates (I know it's in the article as well):
-Improved performance for bloodshot Stronghold
-Added option to invert gyro controls
-Added horizontal and vertical scaling options for rear touch pad
-Addresses audio crash
-Addressed an issue where players were not notified that their online session had expired, which caused players to appear available for multiplayer
