I play PES and they pull the same shit! I get that it's supposed to make games interesting and nail biting til the end, but it's so clumsy and obvious that it only makes you feel cheated. It's such bullshit! If neither can make real AI, because maybe they don't care, seeing as most people play online against others, then it's not acceptable to pull this sort of artificial rubberbanding BS.
Same for me. This is the year I returned to PES. PES has the potential to be better if they fix the really aggravating on-the-pitch technical niggles and awkward chaotic moments, make more proactive goalkeepers, and mainly stop with the muthaflippin' rubber-banding.
Man, does the AI cheat in obvious ways. You just know you're going to get scored when it's the final 5 minutes and your players suddenly start losing the ball, delivering bad passes, failing to control...
If only people who knew, even remotely, how to play the game were playing it in the video, we might have seen something interesting about the game.
Seriously, this isn't some bro thing. I get my ass kicked online constantly, no regrets. But the guys playing on the video are atrocious. It's like they've never played any football game in their life.
I never really use the cockpit view, it's cool that it's there for those who use it though. But that was not the problem with Grid2. The problem with Grid2 is that the handling and AI were unrewarding. You just didn't get that gritty feel for the wheel. It was like an R/C toy.

I absolutely love the Criterion take on racing. It actually requires skill and it's thrilling.
Before Criterion Need For Speed was about pimping your ride and watching your pimped ride on the streets with some cheesy storyline in the background. It was basically a Barbie doll dress up game, but with cars.

PES is football, if you actually play it, and really are actually good at it, you know PES has the right stuff. FIFA 09 is more like for little kids who need super simple, reduced and automated gameplay.
A good PES player can always beat a FIFA player, playing FIFA. Playing PES... that would just be a slaughter.

I tried most of these tips when I tried FIFA 09. I really helped ease down the transition. I'm now playing PES 2009 and it's still the best football game this year, but it's horrible demo made me try FIFA 09. So if you are a PES man and would like to try FIFA 09, I can honestly recommend this article.
