I think most people that do that really enjoy that part of the process.

I think the logic behind those decisions make come down to Sony trying to make the console as future proof as possible. They may be thinking some people will be still playing with it for at least 5 more years and they may be privy to some industry info about some standards becoming more commonplace in 2/3 years and they just want their console to be able to accommodate them.

Or they have a partnership with the producer of the chipset and an agreement to roll them out now in...

A comparable PC would be more costly than a dedicated console, shocker!

Here´s another thing that will blow your mind: you cannot run Photoshop, Maya / Blender, Zbrush, After Effects and a host of utility / production software on a gaming console, making the PC a machine that is useful not only just for gaming / entertainment.
You cannot upgrade a console piece by piece, extending it´s lifetime (Save for the HDD maybe)

Horses for cours...

It does look better, it definitely took some work from the dev side, this is more than simply cranking up some settings. So I´d say it is fair they charge for it (although some devs do similar "next gen" beauty tweaks for free). It is great for those getting into the series now or if you feel like replaying it and haven't touched it after 7 years, it´s not a bad thing either...

They have the platform as an advantage. They run a native OS that streamlines the whole process and people value convenience in a handheld. They´ll be fine. Besides, it´s not like the market is teeming with options. They sit at a great place price / performance wise too. They are right to wait.

For the asking price it´s a bit of a joke. No real 4K, just 1440p upscaled and AI reconstructed and while most things look marginally sharper than fidelity mode, other things do look a bit worse?

Haven´t tried astrobot yet (looking forward to), just the initial demo Astro´s Playroom was it? it looked great and specially what they did with the controller seemed so impressive and intuitive. I wish more games used all those features available, from trigger resistance as a gameplay affecting feature to the fine motor haptics to communicate ground texture...

To be perfectly honest, there´s a handful of games done EXCLUSIVELY for the PS5 Hardware. And I mean just for the PS5, not also running on PS4(pro) "sony exclusives", let alone timed exclusives that later go multi platform.

Games are simply not coded to run on the specific hardware and therefore are not even close to be fully optimised. Which means this mid gen updated is a stop gap measure for multi plat next gen games to run better because the base PS5 is g...

People need to know there are other alternatives and what their pros and cons are.

You know what people don't need? more filler articles about nothing at all...

Also... this console will be 500 in a year if it doesn't sell well, which it may not going by reactions.

I hope the market reacts to this and the company is forced to cut the price sooner than later. Mainly because I like it when companies are forced to adjust to what users demand. Makes them remember who is actually in charge :D

The fact that it does not come with the Blu Ray drive as default is nuts.

As someone who likes to have his games in physical format because I like collecting them and eventually all services are taken down and you will loose your games given enough time; or maybe I like to trade physical copies with a friend to try something before buying, a fully digital console is always a nope for me.

I only buy digital on Steam, and resort to console digital games whe...

The game´s good fun. Massive levels, although they can feel a tad generic / repetivie after a while. They generally have a good ammount of combinations that make for interesting scenarios. Lot´s of epic moments and "last stands". I´ve put about 70 hrs in it, so I feel I got my money´s worth (it was a 40$ title after all). I come back to it every now and again for a couple of matches a week, I feel it´s a great game for this.
They could release some...

SImple greed. When Share holders interest come first than company goals is when everything starts going south. Companies forget what they started business for... to do games, to make movies, to build hardware. to bring something to the endo consumer. Sure, profit is to be had in exchange, after all it is a business. No one is denying that.

But when profit becomes the end all be all... this starts to happen. Companies cut costs, they look at less than stellar earnings as to...

1- I still rather have voice actors I appreciate doing what they love, giving me a more limited dialogue than AI voices reacting to everything I do dynamically... Good writing doesn't need infinite dialogue possibilities.
2- I am sorry you cannot be made to wait for good things that take intensive labor and love from hundreds of people to be made. I rather wait ten years knowing the people involved got fairly paid and did not burn out that have a game a year with half the work...

Unionization, cutting support to big studios and releases made with AI, supporting smaller and idie devs with human labor. That´s the only way forward.

Otherwise this will just be a way to make the the already rich just much richer.

There is no democratization of production means under this tech, just more means to please shareholders. Unless we take an honest look at the way we are just eternally pursuing faster and bigger growth, we are headed for ...

Grew up when Nintendo and Sega where duking it out... Man do I remember those times fondly. I had a Genesis, one of my best friends an SNES, we would argue over whose console had the better games, always ended up at each others`house playing with the other console. The best of times to be a gamer. The 90s Brought SO MUCH in terms of innovations, revolutions and changes... the jump to 16 and then 32 bits, 2d to full on 3d... so many genres where born in that span of 10 years...

To be completely honest, the Ukranian Ministry of Digital Affairs can take whatever actions they deem worthy of taking. They can seek to get this game and any other digital content that potentially generate revenue for russia banned in as many countries as they can. This is war time and they are trying to cripple revenue streams for their invaders in as many ways as they can.

It is up to Steam, Microsoft and any other companies in their respective countries to take action o...
